I went on a cruise ship called Oasis of the Seas a few years ago, and you could zip line right across part of the ship. I am absolutely terrified of heights but this seemed like a good way to try it - not that I would've been any less dead if I fell onto the deck. So anyway, I stood in line and got all harassed up - got up to the platform, looked down and just froze in terror. I couldn't do it. I told the kid running the show there that I changed my mind and wanted to get off. He was very sweet and patient and talked me into it. So I jumped. The whole thing took about 30 seconds. My eyes were closed the entire time and I felt like I was having a heart attack. I'm glad I tried it, but that was probably my first and last attempt.

I did it down a mountain in New Hampshire a few years ago and I'm terrified of heights. It was a blast and the scenery was amazing.
I'd do it again.

Zip lining is one of those things I'd like to think I would enjoy but would be too scared. Also on that list are parasailing and hot air ballooning. I'm not kidding either. Dh made plans for us to go on a hot air balloon ride until he realized we would both be too terrified to enjoy it. I went up in the zoo balloon and that was plenty high for me. Updating my own post - I did it! We went away a few weeks ago. I determined before ever arriving that I needed to do the zip line. As a statement of faith. God has brought me through harder things than this. It almost killed me climbing the telephone pole it but the jump was much easier than I expected. Funny I don't do heights and I don't even jump into the pool! I mean the few times I went in. lol. I quoted scripture the whole way up huffing and puffing. Had to catch my breath when I reached the top. Like a whole minute. when it was time I said "it's you and me Jesus" and just walked off like it was nothing! ![](http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/27/dbac415e5c9b5f70cb6828110fc94803.jpg) ![](http://images.tapatalk-cdn.com/15/07/27/0c00f03cb3532fbda09c5a9e53649a8d.jpg)

My friends just did it at a place called The Gorge in SC, near Asheville area. There were quite a few ziplines in the course -- I always thought it was just one. I think they said there were 14, and it took them 2 hours to go through the course. They loved it. Me, I hate heights, so I went shopping in town.

I haven't. This may sound ridiculous; but, I worry that I wouldn't be able to hold my legs up high enough the whole time and would whack into some trees.

The first time we went was in Costa Rica. It was amazing. We've gone in other places, but none of them measured up. We have quite a few places in my home state with all of the mountains around, so I am sure they are pretty good. Honestly, if you trust the equipment, it is just fun. The trees are cut so you don't whack yourself (at least where I have gone). I have taken pictures on my camera and my son Go Pros it too. You really don't have to do much depending on the type of equipment they put you on. In Jamaica it was zip lining for dummies. The employees did ALL of the thinking for you.

I've always wanted to to it. A friend who has done it said she had a hard time braking, too many people were having to crowd on the platform at once, the harness weighed a lot and they had to do a LOT of stairs. They don't recommend it to people with back problems. But, she is kind of a complainer so I take what she said with a grain of salt.

I did it earlier this year in Belize. I was on a cruise and we did an excursion with part of it being cave tubing (done that on a previous cruise too) and the other party zip lining. It was AMAZING! And I am afraid of heights. But the zip part didn't bother me (once I did it). It was standing on the platforms. But I'd do it again tomorrow if given the chance.

My sister and I zip lined in Costa Rica a couple of years ago. The first couple of lines were the hardest. The guides said "just trust the equipment" .. right. I'm a lawyer ... "trust the equipment" simply isn't in my vocabulary! After the first couple, it was fun .. tho' still hard to go off the platform. I don't know whether or not we'd do it again, but I'm glad that we did it then. It is the only "nice" memory we had in Costa Rica since right after that we were robbed!

I lost my desire to zip line when a woman from my city lost her life in a zip lining accident in Honduras in 2008. I know this accident was probably extremely rare, but it was very disturbing.

We went in Costa Rica also. Absolutely breathtaking! We just went hot air ballooning for our anniversary. Not as dramatic but fun and beautiful. It is very peaceful. I have gradually become more afraid of heights and I was fine as along as I didn't look straight down.

I'm thinking of going to a small island off CA to do it for my 50th in August. We've never been to the island even after living here 40 years! DH is afraid of heights but handled sky diving recently with our daughter. The kids (teens) did the small ziplining at downtown Vegas recently and said it was terrifying. I'd still like to try it though. Catalina? ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg)

We've done a bunch of ziplining. Twice on Maui, twice in Mazatlan, Mexico; once in Puerto Vallarta, once in Cabo san Lucas, and once near Victoria, BC. Love it! My husband has a pretty big fear of heights and gets more of a rush out of it. I am not a big fan of heights myself, but I don't get the terror he does. He likes the one in Maui the best. You walk down a ramp until your feet don't tough anymore, then zip across a valley/ravine until you get to another ramp, and just end by running up the ramp. Really easy on the knees. My husband has two terrible knees and we pay attention to things like that....
The second time we did the Maui course, we went with my blind mother. She really wanted to try ziplining. We rented a GoPro from the zipline people and have great videos of her perspective--what she would see if she could see. She has a genetic disease where she has just very, very narrow tunnel vision left (like 5 degrees of vision at this point), so she could watch the video and see what all was going on in the periphery around here. If my blind mother and husband who was only a few months out from knee surgery can zipline, ANYone can zipline!
