Smudge is such a beautiful kitty! I'm sorry you are struggling with this issue. One of our cats adopted us. He is a beautiful Siamese barn cat and such a cool guy. But he dripped diarrhea everywhere from the moment we accepted him into our home. It was disgusting, especially since I had little ones who would find drippings. Anyway, it turns out that he has the equivalent of Chrones Disease. Our vet put him on a rabbit and green pea dry food by Royal Canin. It is a single protein diet so it's much easier for him to digest. Unfortunately, it costs $65 for an 8.8 lb bag AND we have to feed it to all of our cats since we can't prevent him from eating a different kind of food if it's made available to the others. We spend a small fortune on cat food. But since feeding him this food his diarrhea has disappeared, his coat is shiny and gorgeous, and he's a happy cat. Our other cats (one has since passed away) have thrived on it as well. We do not feed them any wet food or milk. Ever. They only get the Royal Canin food and water. I would ask your vet if that is an option for sweet Smudge.

A friend who has a cat with a sensitive tummy buys a sensitive food (similar to what you described), and splits it with a kitten food... The sensitive food doesn't have all the good stuff the cat needs and the kitten food has all that in abundance... I'd ask you vet first though - I'm not sure if there's anything/too much of something in kitten food that might not be good long term...
My cat was a runt and has a bit of a sensitive stomach, but not to the extreme you're describing... I feed her Royal Canin Adult 27... They have a sensitive mix too, but my cat has been fine on their regular recipe...
Next time you're talking to your vet, also ask about probiotics... I have a couple of packets of probiotic powder that I mix in with some wet food (but you could sprinkle it on dry), if her tummy seems off... The packets are small - they do a can of wet food each, and they're less than a buck... I give her one can of canned food with the powder divided over the course of a week... Thanks enough to settle her tummy back down... It happens maybe twice a year, so a really easy fix for us...
