I loved them all, but then I'm nerdy like that. I referred to the maps and character lists constantly, and read all of the books twice. Don't judge me. I can't wait for tomorrow night!!

DH is listening to them in the car! He LOVES them! He has a 10 min commute so it's taking him a bit to get through them.

Yes, all the books are great. I read them one after another. I think that is the only way to read them, as there are SOO many characters. It took me one whole year to read thru all of them. I'm looking fwd to the newest one to come out, and I certainly can't read the others to refresh my memory. The tv show will soon catch up to the books though....

I am only on the first book (taking me forever because I sadly rarely have time to read lately), but I love it so far. I am all caught up on the TV series, can't wait for next season I have been lucky to find the first 3 books at the thrift store for under a dollar, still keeping my eye out for the 4th!

I love them but the most recent 2 books seem to introduce a lot of new characters. For me it tended to get hard to follow.
I love that the show stays true to the novels.

On my first read thru, I found book 4 to be a little snoozy, but I appreciated it much more the second time.

All the books are amazing. I did get bogged down with some of the stuff going on in the Iron Islands - selecting the new ruler - and the in-fighting amongst the Greyjoys, but once I got through that it picked up again. I can't for the life of me tell you what happened in which book - I read them one after the other and they are all one long story in my mind.
The T.V. Series hasn't really done anything with the Greyjoy storyline (other than Theon), but they couldn't include everything.
You do need to read all the books because even characters you think are gone forever aren't really...

My biggest problem with books is that will go ON and ON for PAGES and PAGES about things like the standards that they carry into battle and then in two paragraphs kill off half the characters (Red Wedding anyone??) Next thing you know, the next chapter refers to someone being dead and you have to go back to figure out exactly where they died. But the boy and I have read them all and will read the next one. I will generally go back and reread books when the next one in the series comes out, but there is no way I can face rereading these books.

Am about to re-read the 5th: A Dance with Dragons (4th is A Feast for Crows). It's been a while since I finished it and need to re-familiarize myself with where all the characters left off. I don't have HBO so I only watch the show after the seasons are finished and I can get them on DVD. Had already read books 1-3 even before the series started (1st season). I've also heard that this season they're straying even further from the books...not sure I like that (probably won't)!
PSA for GoT fans: - Please put 'SPOILER' in the thread title when you post about the TV series, especially since story lines may differ from the books!

I'm.stuck on book 3, not because I've lost interest, but because baseball.season has started and I am rarely home! I need to get back to it before I forget the eight million characters!

I've read them several times. Know the ones you are coming up on take place at the same time with different characters. A little hard to get used to. But so good
