Don't do it! My 14yr old is a space case and sometimes she doesn't notice she is trailing crumbs or something else I don't want anywhere near something white.

I'd say gray walls. I'd paint every wall grey in my house if I could! It is a neutral that looks good with anything you put with it.
And no on the white couch in the living room.

Oh my heck, I would have that couch ruined in no time. Me. And I have five kids, two cats, a dog, and a husband, but it would most likely be messy eater/drinker me who ruin it...lol

I'd never have a white couch, I know every little mark would bother me and I'd drive myself nuts trying to keep it clean. this is me and yes, it drives me nuts. people are surprised i even have a white couch because of how batty i get over things like that. but having a white couch is practically exposure therapy for me since it's easing me (slightly) off the angst of any little marks that show up right after the slipcover is washed. there is also a part of me that wants to spend $800 just for an extra set of slipcovers just in case something happens to these ones. the craziness of that idea set in and thankfully i haven't done it. like i said earlier, if they not come with washable slipcovers, i would never have owned it in white.

There is no couch I would like enough to put up with the incessant cleaning that a white couch pretty much demands. Your family doesn't even have to spill anything. Shit just happens, you know? It's also amazing how much dust, fibers, crumbs, dirt end up on furniture even when we're actively working at avoiding it. I know I am always AMAZED at how many little particles of something and anything are in my couch when I vaccuum it and that's with no pets, no shoes in the house, and no eating on the couch. I mean, where does all that crap come from? But it's there. I cannot even imagine what a white couch would look like in no time and how much it would irritate me.

I wouldn't trust myself with a white couch!

I grew up with a white couch and now have a fabric white coach in my living room. Yes I drink red wine on it, although I only serve white wine to guests. I'm very particular about my purse, never goes on the couch, public floors or kitchen counter. My mother has a new white couch and is a suede type fabric and has stains from the newspaper. I had white fabric furniture years ago and I remember almost having a coronary when a friend came over and started reading the newspaper while sitting on the couch, with the paper on the ottoman in front of her. Luckily her husband said something to her and she moved to the dining room table.

NEVER! And i would be just as concerned about my dh as much as my teens. Things left in back pockets, anything. White is pretty to look at but only if it is unused. It would be hard to enjoy something that I was always worried that it would get dirty. You are very brave.
