on your face? Does it not feel heavy? I used stop use heavy foundation in the past and that was years ago and never did that again for a long time. I hate it. So if you are supposed to use sunscreen what is the lightest possible kind to use? I never go outside if I don't have to. I go out at night or in the evening which is safe but daytime I hate it.
Is there a really *light* sunscreen somewhere? I want to try something that will work without the heaviness of regular sunscreen. Does that make sense? I never go to the beach, lake etc. as I don't want to sunburn or tan or have any exposure to the sun ever.

I use a moisturiser with an SPF of 30 in it and it's very light.
But you do know that some sun exposure is healthy don't you? It helps with Vit D production for strong bones!

There's a thread already going about "light" SPF. Check it out. It has some good suggestions.

Everything I put on my face has an SPF in it and I don't feel like I have anything on, it's light and non greasy.

I use both a moisturiser and sunscreen mostly because the moisturiser/sunscreen combos tend to be much lower SPF than what I want.
I use either a Neutrogena or Ombrelle sunscreen with 60+ SPF.

I think my moisturizer is closer to an SPF a of 20, but it's not greasy at all. And it's just drugstore brand L'Oreal for less than $20 for the jar that lasts a year. I use a higher SPF if I'll actually be outside in the sun for any length of time. If if you never go outside without sunscreen, you may have low Vitamin D. Haven't you been saying your legs ache? Bone pain is a symptom of low vitamin D. And not all doctors test it routinely. I know I have to request it, and I'm on a prescription supplement. (I have very fair skin and sunscreen blocks the absorption of Vitamin D from the sun.)

Legs do ache true. I am supposed to take 3 or 4 Vit D pills a day. I hate being out in the sun. I do walk from my car to the door of the building (10 feet) and then well never.

Moisturizer with sunscreen has a completely different texture than just regular sunscreen that is meant to hold up through sweat/water/etc. It doesn't feel any different to me than just plain ole moisturizer. In fact, I can't remember back to a time that my moisturizer didn't have an spf of some kind in it.

Clinique has some great moisturizers with SPF in them. They also have the most popular sunscreen for faces called City Block.
The facial sunscreens are not anything like the goopy sunblock for sports. There are even some great translucent facial powder sunblocks. I really like those. The Peter Thomas Roth SPF 45 is really great. It comes in a tube with a brush. You shake the tube so a bit of powder comes into the brush bristles, and then you just brush the powder on like you would your finishing facial powder. I really like it because I get sweaty in the summertime, and I like to use a translucent powder as a touch up anyway.
Dh and I really like Neutrogena's spray on sunscreen for when we're outdoors. Dh keeps a can in his golf bag. It drys quickly, is completely clear, and doesn't turn you white. We also spray it on our our scalps and the back of our necks.

Neutrogena's moisturizer with SPF 30 is really light. Is it at all greasy? Even lightly greasy? Does it smell like sunscreen?

I do walk outside and for a good long time-at night I just hate the sun. I will ask at the drug store. You are missing out on the health benefits of the sun's rays. Do you go out when it's not summer? It isn't as if Vancouver is perpetual 80 degrees. You get the benefits even when it's cloudy if you really hate the actual sunshine that much. Moisturisers with sunscreen are NOTHING like sun creams per se. They just feel like moisturisers.

I have used Oil of Olay with SPF 30 for 10 years and I have never felt greasy, heavy, or shiny. Moisturizers with SPF are worlds different than straight sunblock.

I use a CC cream that is a sheer foundation, a moisturizer, and a sunscreen (SPF 50+) all in one. I was really afraid of that greasy feeling when I bought it, but it is really light and feels like nothing on my skin. It's made by IT Cosmetics, called "Your Skin But Better".
I hope you find something you like!

I solved the problem. I have some Guerlain powder that gives me colour and it dried up my skin nicely. It doesn't look tanned but I don't look like I am malnourished like I usually do either. I will do this from now on. And gar i will start going out in the sun a bit. I hate taking vitamin D pills.

Elannah, don't stop taking your Vit D supplements if they are something your Dr. has prescribed. If your levels were low, you will need to be rechecked to see if you are at the proper level before stopping them. Vit D plays an important part in a number of bodily functions, and being low can cause many symptoms, as pps have mentioned.

I hate the moisturizers with sunscreen. In Europe, theirs is far superior but the FDA keeps blocking it in this country. My makeup looks far better using moisturizers without the sunscreen.
