I may go to my DD's lake cabin if nothing more exciting comes up.

We can't do anything now - both the Friday before Memorial Day and Monday Memorial Day itself are weather makeup days for school, so DH has to work.

dd is having her wisdom teeth taken out that Saturday, so we will probably be home the whole weekend getting better.

Maybe a picnic potluck with some family, but nothing major.
DH works in a restaurant and it is one of the biggest/busiest weekends of the year, which means he'd be missing out on good money if the didn't work. It's also the weekend a huge arts festival begins (Spoleto Festival) so there will be thousands more people in town all looking for somewhere to eat. AND it's his birthday that Saturday, and he plans on using that to his advantage with his tables while he works. So anything we do won't involve him. We are going camping and to Atlanta for a couple of days the first weekend of June, so that will be our birthday celebration for DH.

We'll be at the lake, even if it's 40 degrees, raining and miserable (which it typically is!) because DH just HAS to be at the cabin for the long holiday weekend. When the weather is nice I don't mind it but when it's cold and crappy--I'd rather just stay home! Memorial Day, 4th of July and Labor Day weekends are all non-negotiable.

We don't have Memorial Day here, but we do have Victoria Day. We usually stay home and have our own fireworks, but this year I'm thinking about sending DH and the girls away to his parents' house for the weekend, or part of it.

Most likely won't be doing anything but enjoying a day off. The kids don't come back to our house until Sunday so no camping. There was talk of the band participating in a local parade but that has been cancelled. Or rather, our participation in it has been cancelled.

We'll be at our lake house with another family. Between our two families, we will have two brand new college graduates, a new law school graduate, and a daughter who will have recently turned 21. There is also a 55th birthday and a 28th wedding anniversary that will have happened within a few days of our trip, so we have a lot to celebrate.

We don't usually do anything, I don't like traveling the roads on major holiday weekends. But this year my sister invited us to go camping with them and some of their friends. Dh said yes and took the time off. Then had second thoughts so now we are going camping somewhere else by ourselves But we aren't going far and it will be nice to have a quiet and relaxing weekend away from the house, so I'm kind of excited.

We don't have Memorial Day of course, but that day is Spring Bank Holiday in the UK so it's a long weekend for us too. No plans to do anything that weekend at the moment though.

Hopefully walking and bending my knee like a normal person! I hit my 6 week mark May 28th so I'm hoping the dr lets me trash this brace.

Both kids (freshman DS and senior DD) have a Pops concert series for band. They have dress rehearsal Thursday, then performance Friday and Saturday. My IL's are coming for the Saturday performance and that makes it really special! DS will have his "friend-girl" there too with her mom. No other plans that weekend but May is a busy month for us leading into graduation on June 4th.

Saturday morning DD and I are participating in a Veterans Memorial at the Veterans Cemetery with her girl scout troop. It is a huge cemetery. The troop went last year, there was a ceremony and then everyone in attendance helped to "plant" flags at every gravestone in the cemetery. It was very moving.
Saturday night to Sunday we are having 8 of my DD's friends for a birthday slumber party... yikes, what am I thinking?!
Sunday we meet up with my parents, aunts, uncles at a local park for a picnic.
Monday we just hang out with the kids at home.

Oldest ds and I will be driving 2/3rds of the way across the country so he can start his summer internship. He needs a car but is too young to rent one there. Hoping weather and holiday travel don't hold us up too much. We'll be on the road Thurs. through Sat. if all goes as planned. I fly back Mon.
Youngest ds has a 3-day swim meet and studying for h.s. finals. Dh will be cheering at the swim meet and on stand-by for calculus and physics help.

This post inspired me to check out next semester's calendar. I only have half of the calendar but from what I see, I may be able to enjoy Memorial Day with my family. We usually like to grill out by our pool. Nursing school has sucked me dry of quality time with my loved ones. Instead, I eat, sleep, and breathe my textbooks. It would be lovely to enjoy this day off from school with my family! Here's to hoping.

DS has double headers both Friday and Saturday, so we will be watching some baseball. The traveling Vietnam Wall is in our town, so we will go see that for the first time since my father-in-law passed away. (He passed away from Agent Orange related illness. He is not on the Wall because that is only for those who died of combat related causes, but he is part of the In Memory program for those who died of other causes related to their service in Vietnam).

It is still over a month away, so I am not sure. DH often works because it is time and a half and hopefully he will do so this year. The boys and I might spend the day at the pool if it is nice or hiking if not so hot. Might bbq with my folks.

Our neighbors/friends always have us over. I'll make too much food and then lay outside reading magazines and dipping into the pool from time to time. Always relaxing and fun.

No plans yet... hopefully we are going camping for the whole weekend! The school district let the kids out of all of the snow days they had, so school will be out by then, which we are very excited for!

I work at the Asian Festival every year. It's huge & their health fair is really big & busy. It's in a really nice park though.
