It wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. I'm super glad I did the grey coat underneath! Two coats, and we are happy with the overall look. We had originally planned to have the bed on the red wall, but decided we would centre it on the grey end wall, and then put the basketball decal centred on the red wall. It is a silhouette of Michael Jordan jumping, and then DS wants "Jordan" and "23" as well for it. I've found somebody in Ontario that does them (no shipping from China - yay) so we'll order that soon. And as promised, photos! It was hard to get a shot of the full room, the bed is rather large (it's DH's old waterbed with a mattress in it), and the sun was streaming in, so the red looks a tad pink in the photos:

Looking good! I have a single red wall in my bedroom, and I have never tired of it.

Looks great! We had a red wall behind our master bed in our last house. Not sure if we'll do that again, or not, but I loved it.

Great job, can't believe you did it in just two coats. When I painted my bathroom red it took 4.

Very cool!
I decided to do a red wall in my bedroom a few years ago. I didn't know about tinted primer as I'd never painted a dark color before. I did SIX!!! coats of paint before I gave up and called it good enough. It really could have used one more coat. It was a fun accent wall though, so it was worth it in the end. I'm sure your son will love his.

Looks great!! It's not bright (blood) red. This red would look great with warm colors too (gold, etc...). Very nice!
