It was my son-in-law's birthday Friday and for birthdays the birthday person gets to choose the meal at my house. He always chooses my homemade tacos so we're having them along with Yvonne's Mexican rice. SIL only eats tacos and usually eats 8-9 of them when I make them but 11 year old Gage loves the rice. Anything else just sits so that's all I'm cooking.
My girls gave me a Cuisanart ice cream maker for Mother's Day so I spent the morning making a french vanilla custard to put in it later this afternoon. That will be our dessert and I can't wait to try it. The custard is seriously yummy. Heavy cream, sugar, vanilla beans and 8 egg yolks, what's not to love? :drool:What are you planning for tonight?

I am going to make sweet and sour chicken, stir-fried vegetables and rice. I also have a pineapple so I need to slice that up and it can be a side dish too!

As a joke I received one of those "as seen on tv" burger stuffers! I am going to give it a whirl tonight and pair it with some macaroni salad and corn on the cob.
Our neighbor made us a delicious carrot cake with cream cheese frosting. We will polish that off tonight!

It all depends on the weather! We are supposed to have severe thunderstorms, and are under a tornado watch until 8pm. As of right now, ds' baseball game is still on. If the rain holds on until we are done, we will have bacon cheeseburgers. If it rains, we will have tacos.

Our DS is leaving next week for Navy Bootcamp. He has dinner requests all this week because he knows he won't get any home cooked meals in a really long time. Tonight he has requested Cajun Crawfish Pasta.

akathy can't wait to hear how the new ice cream maker works! I'll give you a report in tomorrow's dinner thread. I'm not much of an ice cream fan but I love homemade ice cream! Years ago my not so dear MIL used to make it for my birthday but after a few years she decided (with help from her daughter) that she didn't like me so that was the end of the homemade ice cream it's been about 40 years since I've had it and I can't wait to have some tonight. Fresh raspberries are on sale this week so I think I'll be making raspberry ice cream next

I've got chicken, red potatoes and carrots in the crock pot today with some cream of chicken soup. Not the healthiest with the soup, but it makes a yummy kind of gravy to go with. I made a large amount(so much I had to use 2 crock pots lol) - so there's plenty for dinner tonight and then lunches the rest of the week. I've got plans for every night after work the rest of the week, which means no cooking (yay lol!), but then that means no leftovers for lunch (boo!). So I'm killing two birds with one stone tonight...or 2 chickens to be more precise lol!

Baseball game, again....I pulled meatballs out of the freezer, the boys will have them with pasta and I'll have mine over broccolini.
Quick and easy

I must be hungry because everyone's dinner plans sound so delish, even the sandwiches. Last night I ended up making mini cheeseburger sliders, because I forgot I hadn't made them on Friday night. Fed three little kids and they were very happy. So tonight it's going to be the small pot roast I didn't make last night, mashed potatoes, and broccoli, I guess. Now I gotta go find some lunch.

DD has practice tonight, if the storms hold off. If they do hold off, we will probably grill out hotdogs and have salad, corn on the cob and maybe macaroni and cheese.

The weather will dampen my idea but not stop it - I was going to grill out Hamburgers for DH, Turkey Burgers for me but we are also under a Tornado Watch and it is raining cats and dogs right now! Thank goodness for an electric skillet.

We're having grilled pork chops, shredded hash browns and some sort of veggie. I'm thinking steamed cauliflower for me and maybe broccoli or peas for the others.

I'm not sure what I am having for dinner tonight. I am feeling kind of sad today.

Dd#1 is a dance TA for a class of little girls and tonight is picture night and class ... dh drives her ... we want to have grilled burgers but I'm afraid of the BBQ so it has to wait until they get home I'll roast some potatoes and slice some gorgeous fresh tomatoes to go along with the burgers

My older son has a driving lesson and my husband is working late so it's a fend-for-yourself kind of night. I'll probably take the leftover quinoa stuff and make a burrito and my younger son (if I am guessing right) will pick breakfast for dinner and eat waffles and fruit.

I have no idea. I had to do a 3 hour glucose test and had to drink that awful orange liquid today and I've been nauseated all day. I had a salad for lunch after I was done but just nothing sounds good for dinner, even though I'm really REALLY hungry.
I'm just not sure what to eat to ease my tummy.
Akathy - I hope your ice cream turns out! I have the kitchen Aid ice cream maker for my stand mixer but I've never used it.
ETA - stay safe littlemama!!

I am cooking up creamy lemon basil pasta with shrimp and a wedge salad. Someone else mentioned BLT... I have a havarti BLT on the menu for tomorrow. Yum!
