By long I mean 12+ hours? It will actually be an eighteen hour drive and we will do it in one shot.
Usually I wear workout pants and a tshirt. I am leaning towards a knit sundress this time just for comfort.
What says the Peas?
PS... no matter what I wear I will have pillow and blanket in the car with me.

Yoga pants and a baggy shirt. I like comfort and don't care about fashion when I'm stuck in a vehicle.

Something loose and cotton. Layers because DH and I never seem to be the same temperature.

Dresses are not comfortable to me, so I wear comfy pants, a comfy shirt, slip on shoes, and a sweatshirt.

The only time I travel long distances it is quite hot so I wear a comfortable sundress and flip flops The best part is that our truck has air conditioned seats

I have been wearing a lot of comfy sundresses this summer and that is even why it is a consideration this trip. They are just so comfy!!

Lately I've been favoring a comfy maxi skirt (in a fun print) with a super-soft v-neck tee, fav slip-on sandals, and straw fedora with various other easy accessories. It's good for any road side photo-ops or activities, a quick run into a restaurant or gas station. and I don't feel like slob. I used to do the yoga pants, over-sized tee, croc uniform for traveling but I find I'm embarrassed when I see the pics. I also have a cotton tunic in an exotic print with a tank underneath that I wear with a knee length cotton stretchy skirt that's seen me through many a road trip. It was especially awesome driving through OK and the southwest in summer with no a/c.

baggy shorts with pockets and a t shirt. The pockets are important.

I love a comfy maxi dress when I'm traveling with easy to slip off sandals.

I think I am gonna go for the dress this time. If I am uncomfortable I will know not to do it again, right?

Have you ever done an 18-hour trip in one shot before? My arse hurts just thinking about it.
For car trips, it's either jeans and a sweatshirt (winter) or knit capris and a soft T-shirt (summer). Shoes are always something I can slip on and off easily.

From Utah. We will leave here in the next couple of hours and drive straight through the night. It is a rough trip, but you do what you have to do for family.

I prefer a dress because when you're stopping at a rest stop, it's much better to hike it up than let your pants/shorts touch the nasty floor. And the no waistband is a plus, too.

My stretchy travel pants by Lucy and comfy t-shirt or a comfy dress. Either with flip flops and my genie bra. Can't stand sitting with underwire for that length of time.

Like most - comfy pants, layered top for the variety of temps throughout the day, and slip on shoes or flip flops. And I agree with OP, always have a pillow and blanket!

Shoes are always something I can slip on and off easily. We do a 17-hour drive twice a year. We generally break it up and stop overnight on the way out, but do the straight 17 in one shot coming home. I don't love it, but it's doable. I've never really thought about wearing anything special for the trip though. I just wear my regular clothes. I know I've done it in jeans and khakis. And I'm almost positive I've worn a skirt at least once. I could maybe do nicer yoga pants, but you wouldn't catch me dead in pajama pants outside my home.

Yoga pants and t-shirt. I like the sundress option, and have done something similar on a flight. Once. Just remember to actually take pants with you, if you wear a dress. Something besides leopard print pajama pants. Just sayin'.

yoga pants and a t-shirt. We are going on a long road trip in the fall. It's about 22 hours of driving, not counting stops. 3 days of driving, 3 pairs of yoga pants, 3 t-shirts!

Soft cotton capris/pants or shorts and a casual shirt. My long drives are for camping/RVing trips so I don't take dresses with me.

Yoga pants, t shirt, flip flops, and I always bring a sweater or jacket. I get cold so easily.
