When there was a LSS, the owner hired her MIL to help at the store. As MIL was checking and cashiering, she licked her fingers, touched every one of my papers with spit-laden fingertips, and then proceeded to put the papers in an acidic thin brown bag and folded over the top of the bag, thereby creasing and folding every single paper inside. The owner did replace the papers for me but it did give me a case of the pea-livid vapors for a moment or two. I'm sure the MIL totally wrecked the store's profit margins every time she did that.

Oh that is ridiculous!!! I think it's a great idea to talk to the manager about it.

Try to find a product call "UNDO" It should take the sticker off and won't leave a greasy residue. It is photo safe. However, the last place I was able to find it was Archivers.
**ETA - sorry, I see others posted about UNDO. I can't scrap without it.

I haven't had to use Undo, as I have been able to peel them off. Generally, it partially peels off and then I use a credit card or gift card to scrape off the rest. The paper is fine after, maybe a little sticky in that area. But, it is a pain and I will say something next time I am in the store.

I keep coming back to this thread! I still can't believe that anyone with an ounce of common sense would do that.
And when I got time to scrapbook, I wouldn't want to spend half of it trying to salvage the paper! Crazy Town!

You would think that anyone who scraps would have placed the price above the rack and not on the paper. And if they had to do so on the paper, then it should be the empty backside or the border strip for sure.

Yeah, that's crazy. I cant imagine a scrap store doing that. Has to be a non-scrapper pricing that paper.

print this thread (after you crop names off) and leave it in the store ... maybe the shoe will drop and they'll go "hey that's us ... oooh, and that's not a good thing" LOL

You know what, I'm not going to buy a product to get gunk from a price sticker off of the product, nor am I going to scrape it off either. That's bull. I'm not wasting time or money to get gunk from a price sticker off paper that a paper-based store did to its paper goods. That's just stupid. I won't be buying there.

I haven't read the entire thread, but an adhesive eraser should get off the remaining residue, and not take that much time. I agree, though, that is a pretty shoddy practice. The last remaining LSS in our area doesn't use price stickers. It's all in the computer. Just scan the bar code and you're done. But their last day is Sunday. They are closing.

I havent seen price tags on paper before, either. The LSS I go to has a sign on the wall stating how much their paper is. If its a specialty paper they write the price with a pencil on the border.

I get that...and if this store wasn't so great and close, I would feel that way too. It's a Ben Franklin store and about 1/3 is devoted to scrapbooking. The staff is super friendly, helpful and they always have new stuff. I want to make sure I do my part to support them so we don't lose them. They are 6 miles from my house vs. the next two closest LSS's being 14 and 39 miles away. The 14 mile away store is much smaller and the staff is hit or miss. The 39 mile away store is fantastic, but too far for frequent shopping trips (with traffic it could easily be a 60-90 minutes drive.)

My office uses a product that takes the place of the "finger licking" thing. It's about a dollar at office supply stores. Surely the owner could invest in this? Sent from my SCH-I545L using Tapatalk

I've never seen a LSS put price tags on paper. This is why I always spend so much. I know how much they cost but the fact that the sticker isn't there makes it easier to let it get out of hand.

Glad I've done something worthwhile today! When I got to the store this morning I discovered that I had on a left shoe from one set of black sandals and a right shoe from another set -- and since I live an hour away I had to call my daughter and have her bring me flip flops (from the same pair -- LOL!) so I didn't look like an idiot all day. I've always heard of people doing something like that, but still can't believe I did it myself!

Ugh, mine does that too, and it sucks. Or, the paper isn't priced at all so I'm surprised when I get up to the register and find I have a huge stack of patterned paper that is 1.29 a sheet. I wouldn't like that at all, and would probably take it back.
My lss's don't put prices on the paper. If there is a strip (and there usually is now) they have a color on it and then a sign above showing colors and prices.
I will admit that I don't pay attention to the prices though, I buy paper based on whether I like it, not on the price. And many times I have been shocked when I check out!

I am guilty of the same thing! I am sure I didn't look at the price stickers until after I got the paper home.

Went to the LSS last night for my monthly paper class. Spoke to the scrapbook manager. She said they started using the price stickers because of all the various different prices. They didn't used to price them in the days of single sided papers because everything was basically the same price.
She said they use low tack glue stickers to try and make them easy to remove. Seemed apologetic about it, but didn't seem like things could/would change.

That's terrible! I wouldn't buy paper from them if they keep doing that. Especially since it seems like the managers attitude was too bad.
My LSS marks them with the price on the branding strip. Has to be a pain, but at least it won't ruin the paper.

WOW1 I have never seen paper marked like that at a LSS! I usually get annoyed because there is no price listed anywhere and I have to keep asking!

Why on earth would they put a price tag on? ? And if the owner is a scrapper, she should know better.

I'm sorry but those price tags do not look like low tack glue stickers. Low tack would be like the stickers on the back of the Bazzill papers. They come off easily with nothing left on the paper. Not even residue. Oh well, at least you have an LSS!
