Here you go. What an awesome find! I can see where that would be very useful in a craft or sewing room. Thank you for posting this, gypsygirl. I will take a picture after I clean it and assemble it properly. I sent this picture to my roommate (he is staying with his daughter until he is well enough to take care of himself again. He had a heart attack a couple of weeks ago and will be getting a defibulator inserted in a few weeks when he is strong enough to handle the surgery). He is pushing hard for me to either put the bin in the garage for shared tool storage or for me to sell it to him. He even offered $300 and is pushing the heart issues for sympathy. Ha ha. Not going to work.

Bethany, thanks, lol. Grammanisi, it's a company that makes them. A couple of times a year we are allowed to buy overstock, and they have them unpackaged in different scents in trays of 72. Lindas, thanks, and they are very comfortable. Eastcoastpea, wow, you got a lot of stuff! That's a shame about the lost money, but I bet you saved a bundle on all of the Pampered Chef items. Leslie132, that's great that you made so much. I am sorry that it was bittersweet for you. {{Hugs}} Vronigarmisch, I do that too, lol. And SCORE, what a savings! Beachgurl, that's a lot of stuff. The coffee table sounds really neat. I am curious about the travel books, are you planning to go on a trip in the near future, or are they for a project of some kind? Jemali, the community that my parents live in do provide a map that marks off the homes that are participating in the sale. But there is nothing to list what people are selling. I think that's a great idea! Elaynef, some neat finds. Church sales are the best! Such a variety of things, always such great prices, and often some cool vintage things. Megmc, I googled intarsia leaf and two different things came up. One was with wood, and one was fabric/clothing. I am curious as to what exactly it was you found! Teddyw, that is so something that I would do, lol, make a stop at the thrift store. And what a nice thing for your dd and her schoolmates to do. Have to take a break for a moment, but looking forward to seeing what else you ladies have found!

Janeinbama, you made out well. Even if you had to buy lunch, lol! Spongemom Scrappants, that ice bucket is gorgeous! It certainly cleaned up well! Brookeq, those sales are a great idea, and such a savings too. Nicely done. Lexica, that is AWESOME! I have never seen anything like it before. Thanks, AmeliaBloomer.

Megmc, I see now that it was wood pieces. Very nice. Thanks, Spongemom. We are planning to work on our patio/garden area this spring/summer and I was looking for cute decor pieces. Pelirrioja, excellent buy on the purses. Would love to see photos, if you could. Miss-lizzie, I love old card catalogues. Such beautiful and nostalgic pieces that bring back happy memories. Lucky you! Thanks so much for sharing, everyone. I can't express how much I love reading these posts!

I got a Dooney & Bourke giraffe print purse for $10: I had offered less but was happy to pay the full $10. It's never been used and still has its' tiny serial number sticker intact inside one of the pockets. The second score was a B. Makowsky purse in metallic copper leather. It goes perfectly well with my coppery red hair. That one was $8. It was pretty good day. I saw a ton of scrapbook stuff at several different sales: I'm guessing that indicates that the hobby is now just about kaput. OMG! I love that D&B giraffe purse! I drooled over it for months and never bought it. What a great find.

Bought this tool box for $5 at a yard sale. No idea what I'd do with it, but lookee' here. Fits soda cans perfectly. Won't do much for my resolve to give up Diet Coke, though. Suppose I could switch to beer... I collect nuns - the 1950s Made-in-Japan ones with the sweet faces, not the new ruler-slapping, grimacing ones. Five dollars at a thrift store, she has joined her "sisteren," frolicking among the dishes. She's the bigger one with the funny hat. Didn't realize how big she was; maybe she'll be the new Mother Superior. Coup d'état time. Sorry the photo's so big. SHE insisted...

Wow, everyone found such cool stuff! Such a good feeling when you find something you wanted for sooo cheap! My friend and I went out for the first time this season and both did well! I ended up with 8 brand new tennis balls in a little mesh bag for $4 (which truthfully, I didn't think was that great of a deal, but regardless, still cheaper than new. The gal asked me if I played, haha, and I had to inform her they were for my dog lol). At another sale, another brand new dog toy for 10 cents. Then probably my most random purchase - about eight unused tissue paper party decoration "poofs" for $2 (I have a few upcoming showers they may work for, and those things are pricey in the store). My best purchase of the day.. a really nice full size Samsonite suitcase. Everything worked perfectly, wheels spun around 360, and multiple compartments inside and out. Just slightly worn on the outside, but really nice on the inside still. It's going to get banged up traveling anyway. The funny thing was, as I opened it to look at the inside, I noticed a couple earring backs and earrings inside, then in the inner pockets, some balled up socks. I brought it over to the lady, who was kinda looking at it in a concerned way lol. She mentioned she didn't know her husband had put it out. I gave it to her so she could get the rest of the stuff out (one was a lacy thong haha) and one of the earrings in the bottom, which I assumed was a costume pearl earring (a really good sized one!) was real! Anyway, I got it for $7! Good day for me

AmeliaBloomer, I love that wooden tool box. I see them sometimes, but they are always priced so high, you'd never get one for $5 here. Cute that they fit pop cans (or beer, lol). I bet there are some neat ideas on pinterest for ways to use them as well.
I have never seen (or at least never noticed) those little nun figurines before either. The one with the hat makes me think of that old t.v. show 'The Flying Nun'. It's nice that you were able to add another piece to your collection.
Princess consuela, that is funny about the suitcase, lol! Our Shepherd loves tennis balls too and I always look for them for her. You often have to look at things like the decorations at yard sales, and think ahead to whether it might be something you could use in the near future. You can save a lot of money that way.
It's always fun to see and read about everyone's finds!

Forgot to update with my treasures for the week, lol! I stayed at my mom's Friday night and helped her get ready for a garage sale her neighbourhood was having Saturday, and stayed for the sale, so I didn't get out to any. We did stop at the thrift store after her sale to drop off some things that didn't sell and I found a few things there. One thing I had wanted was a plush, furry blanket to use when photographing our new grandson. I found a cute light blue one for $3. I also picked up a couple of hats, a summer fedora for $3 and a fancy ivory dress hat for $7. I might use that one for when we eventually renew our vows. There was one garage sale listed for Sunday morning in a nearby town, so dh and I drove out to check it out. I was so glad that we did. I bought a Canon PowerShot S3 IS camera for $20 (he was asking $25). It came with the box and all manuals and...bonus!....a Canon tele-converter and adapter that gives the camera a total reach of about 650mm. The longest lens I have for my DSLR cameras is 250mm. I hadn't really thought of getting another camera before, but realized that it might be nice to have a smaller camera that I didn't pay much for, for those times when I don't want to risk my DSLR, or want something to tuck into my bag, or would like more reach, like at the zoo. It has different modes, including manual, so it does offer a bit of control and creativity. It wouldn't replace my DSLR but I have been pleased with initial test shots. My other find that I am stoked about was a full bottle of Ralph Lauren 'Romance' perfume. It is one of my favourite scents though I don't have any. I was more than happy to pay $4 for that. On the way home we passed another sale where I picked up a couple of vintage glass Christmas ornaments, and the comb from a vintage vanity set. I have found brushes and mirrors, but no combs previously. I paid $3 for these items. So even though I didn't get out for the morning Saturday, I still had a successful weekend.

AmeliaBloomer - I love those nuns! I've never seen any like them before. How did you get started collecting them? Who knows? They've never been a hot collectible, so my guess is a figure called to me many years in an antique store, I bought it for $6, and a collection was born. Then about ten years ago, kitsch nun merchandise became all the rage, but the vintage figures still didn't catch on - except maybe the nunsplayingbaseball set. Search ebay for "nun figurines" to get a sampling. I was educated by nuns, and there are/were nuns in my family, but mostly I just like the faces on these figurines. I'm also a sucker for "Occupied Japan" Christmas figures and candle climbers/huggers (some candle climbers are pricey). This stuff was cheap and plentiful - and in every American home - in the 50s and 60s. Idealized white people. (Well, come to think of it, I have many Made-in-Japan Chinese figurines, so add idealized Chinese peasants to the mix...)

I think she was just in a purging mood. I love old, but not so much this new "rustic" thing, but I felt forced into buying it for the price. LOL. I'll have to check out the ideas on Pinterest, but so far, the family likes it living on the kitchen floor with soda in it.

These are some great finds!
I am in the process of moving and spent the last 4 days doing that. Each time I drove past a garage sale I slowed way down and was peeking but did not stop because I need to get moved before I can head out! I am finding a few things I didn't know I had while I've been moving!

Cool finds!
I didn't get to go this weekend; but I am not working this Friday so I hope the weather is good. I am on the lookout for silver and rhinestone brooches. I hope to make a brooch bouquet so I have been on the lookout for inexpensive ones to start collecting.

I picked up a couple of vintage pottery planters at a Seniors' yard sale in the town up the road from us. One is smooth white, square, about 6" tall and marked on the bottom Relpo 426 Japan. The other one is a pale greeny-gray colour with speckles, round, on a pedestal and even though it is unmarked, I'm pretty sure it's Haeger, as I have several other pieces of the greeen Haeger and the appearance and feel of the new one seem identical to the ones I have. From the same seller, I also bought a 1962 edition of Betty Crocker's NEW GOOD AND EASY COOKBOOK. These three items were a whopping $1.50 [fifty cents each]
From another seller I bought a really cute framed vintage print of a smiling little girl holding an umbrella in one hand and a bunch of flowers and her skipping rope in the other hand. Her little dog is walking along beside her on a country path. That was marked down from $5.00 to $3.00. From this same seller, I also bought a columbine which had been started in a little pot and is about 8" high. That was $2.00. Total at this table - five bucks!
I love hearing about all the great finds the Refupeas buy at yard sales and thrift shops. I have to keep myself in check sometimes because I'm trying to cut back on things, not add to them. But sometimes you just can't resist, right?

a few months ago I saw a wood frame I liked that some young girl just bought. it matched a bunch of vintage frames i had at home. I kicked myself for not seeing it first and getting it. i see the girl a few aisles over and ask her (nicely) what she paid for it. she says $4.00. kick myself again. i asked her what she was going to do with it and she said she was going to use it as a shabby chic prop for a birthday party. i told her "i will give you $10 for it right now. you will probably pitch it after your party but i would love to keep it for my home. when else are you going to make instant money on something you can easily replace? ". she hhhmm and haaah'd (holding my breath)and finally said okay. yipeee, i paid her quickly. a boy with her asked what i will do with the oil painting in the frame. i said "nothing" so i gave it to him and they walked off happy.

Ameliabloomer I love your nun figurines! I have been looking for Made in Japan figurines for a couple of years, I really want the choir boys and girls in red or black. I have only found angels and 3 sets of 3 each at estate sales. I'm not giving up though.
I also found a similar wooden tool box with tools in it this spring for $16. I sent a picture to oldest DD and she wanted it. Other 2 DDs saw it and wanted it. DH said he had gotten rid of similar boxes a few years ago - I told him they were not popular then.

Hey, Lexica! I snapped a pic of this item at Hobby Lobby today 'cause it reminded me of your spinning parts bin monstrosity - but a tabletop version. Problem: the shelves are rigid; only the partition dividers spin. So when you spin, all the contents in every section (on that level) go along for the ride. Rather odd...and limiting. I can't remember how much it cost. I remember thinking it was stupid-expensive, but then you never buy stuff like this full-price at HL. (Notice the sign.) The full price was somewhere between $50 and $80. Helpful, right?

Harbor Freight has a tabletop version. They are made of steel, 18" high and 12" wide. Next time I am near our HF I plan to stop in and pick one up. I've seen come cute ideas on Pinterest using this one. Now don't everyone buy them out before I get there! I bought one a few years ago! Very handy, and well-made. Just as a warning, though... the assembly instructions say you shouldn't be drunk or high when putting together the item, but after dropping yet another freaking ball bearing, you'll need to be one or the other!

I've seen the Hobby Lobby version. Even at half price that is too high. And not very user friendly either.
The Harbor Freight one looks great for only $19.99! If that is a sturdy one, that is a steal! Now I need to look on Pinterest to see what people are doing with them.
I thought I would get laughed at here for buying my bin, but I see there are many of us who can see the use of one. My mom thinks I'm nuts for getting it, but she never really had appreciated my crafty side. My sister wants to inherit it when I die. I wonder what she knows that I don't.

Oh! Gypsy Girl's post reminded me I forgot to tell the measurements. It was about two iPhone 5's tall and three iPhone 5's wide. That was my ruler.
Wait. Maybe it was three phones tall x two phones wide.
Wait a sec. Gotta' measure my phone.....
So, in inches, either 10h x 15w or 15h x 10w. I think it was the former.
Lesson learned: nobody should hire me to be a spy. ("I think there were four nuclear missiles ...no...maybe there were 13. They were pointed at Los Angeles...no, maybe Louisiana. it was an "L" name, I'm sure.")
ETA: oh, lawdy, go for the $19.99 one, no matter how many phones-wide it is.

Politically incorrect, and tacky, my own mother has been appalled, but I love them! The nuns are cute!
