I had two pills left from my prescription and couldn't get anyone at the Drs office to call me back. Even after I explained my situation to the front desk. I was terrified since this is my brain we are talking about. I finally just showed up wt the Drs office in hopes someone would talk to me. The nurse Practitioner took me back. The prescription I had been taking for the last month was for the wrong meds. What his file said I was on, and what prescription I have been taking for the last month didn't match. He said something about it being 3 times what I should take. He was worried that I had taken toxic levels but sent me on my merry way.
The withdrawals have been lovely. (sarcasm). I can't walk a strait line. My body feels crazy. I am agitated about everything and get ticked off if the sky is Blue. My head feels like a Ferris wheel. And I have never had brain surgery before so I can't decipher between the two. This is the last thing my brain needs. jen

I am so sorry. Can you find a different doctor?

Three hrs away in Seattle. Which was the plan in the first place. The emergency surgery put a damper on that. Jen

He was worried about toxicity but did not order tests, send you to the ER, a specialist? I think I would call poison control line then figure out what to do. After my health was secured, I would find out how it got screwed up. Then Maybe a different doctor. I do not know what brain thing you are talking about but I am sorry for the mess.

Sounds like the pharmacist messed up, not the doc.

Ugh, I am so sorry. That seems dangerous and it has got to be difficult for you. Are they trying to change or lower your meds now? Did you get some more?

I'm sorry, how awful! You certainly don't need this stress on top of everything else. Is there a nurse hotline, urgent care, ER you can go to for your Ferris Wheel head symptoms? Or somewhere you can go tomorrow for help? It doesn't seem right that a doctor would let a patient with brain cancer who'd been given the wrong medication for a month, just stop cold turkey and not give you any support or help you wean off of it.

I hadn't even thought of poison control. A month ago I had a benign tumor removed from my head. jen

That sounds horrible. I am sorry you are going through this. I agree with finding a second opinion about the overdose, sometimes pharmacies have a number you can call also.

Sounds like the pharmacist messed up, not the doc. It was a paper prescription the day I got out of the hospital but I guess they could have.

Oh ,y goodness, that blows. I agree with calling a poison control line or another dr and getting the real scoop on the effects you are experiencing. Sometimes there are Meds that can mitigate the sudden withdrawal symptoms of some Meds- maybe they can help? But surely someone needs to know- you need another dr anyway so no time li,e the present to find one and get some relief. I'm so sorry.

I am so so sorry Ashley I don't have brain cancer. The tests showed that the tumor was a meningioma tumor which is benign. It was the size of my fist. The dr had to leave 20% in my head because it so close to a vein that he didn't want to mess with. If it starts to grow back will have radiation. I have to have a MRI every 3 months.cHe expects 100% recocery. Minus the daily migraines I was having before so my quality of life will completely. change. It could take a year or more to fully recover. I should do an update. Dr gave me new prescription. jen

I'm sorry that you're going through this trauma to your poor body. This is very serious and I wouldn't be afraid to confront the doctor about standard of care.

I hope everything is okay and you are thru the worst of it soon.

I'm sorry I misunderstood your case! I'm thrilled that your doctor says you'll be able to make 100% recovery -- ANd be without migraines? Wow. Awesome. I hope the new prescription helps and that you'll be getting back to your new and improved self soon!

Sounds like the pharmacist messed up, not the doc. It was a paper prescription the day I got out of the hospital but I guess they could have. If the prescription was handwritten, the error could have been a result of the physician's handwriting. I hope you feel better soon.

Mistakes happen, but I would definitely want to get to the bottom of who made this mistake so it doesn't happen again. Going through withdrawals has got to be awful. I'm sorry you are dealing with this.

Just a gentle suggestion, next time you see the doctor, take your DH or a friend. Since you don't feel you are operating at 100% (and who would!), it is a good idea to have someone take notes for you.
DH is often so stressed at his appointments there is no way he'd remember and/or comprehend everything at some visits.
I am wishing you the very speediest recovery ever recorded.

Did the pharmacy give you wrong I have no idea. I am going to give myself a gift and let it go. My brain is still healing and there is a tumor still in there. I need to figure out how to live stress free.

Ugh, that sounds horrible. How long did the dr say the symptoms would last? And why did the office not return your phone calls?
I have a mass in my brain left from a sphenoid sinus infection. It took almost 18 months before I felt like myself. Be kind to yourself--brain healing is very tiring. Very. And crabby, too. Try to rest when you can. I was sleeping 16-18 hours a day and my dr thought that was wonderful.
