Yes.
Usually it has books on it. Also a few magazines such as national geographic and the economist. In winter it has candles on it.
Right now there is also a puzzle on it that we completed a couple weeks ago but I'll probably clean that up soon.

I have one. On it, is a tray with a jug of flowers, a funky bowl and a short squat glass dish. On the other side is a distressed painted box with a hinge, that I put the remotes in.

I try to keep the coffee table in our living room clear as I hate when it looks cluttered. There is always a soft rattan tub on it which holds the remotes, and a set of Disney coasters in a holder. Tonight it is also covered in pens as I was colouring while watching TV!
I have my mum's 1970s teak and glass coffee table in our study. At the moment, the only thing on it is dust. The shelf under it holds a few jigsaws that are waiting to be done.

My LR coffee table is an antique blanket chest that was my grandparents. It has a candle in an iron holder and a rectangular basket with magazines and small books. My FR coffee table has a fern, an old humidor, a stack of hardcover books and a stack of magazines. The bonus room coffee table has a tall candle holder, an African basket that holds all the remotes for that room, and it usually has a couple of board games or a deck of cards on it, depending on what the kids were doing in there last (because God forbid they should put their stuff away! lol)

A coffee table is a must for me. When we moved to our little apartment a couple of years ago, I wanted a coffee table but was unwilling to pay a lot for it (our living situation is temporary- a few years). I found a large hinged rectangular basket out by the dumpster which we used until a few months ago when I finally found an inexpensive cute coffee table on Craigslist. I love it, it's small and has drawers where we keep the remotes, and I keep my music.
I keep a few magazines, a couple of coasters, and some small framed art on top.

I do have one and it works very well in the room that it is in. It would be weird looking without it. But, I will not have any glass tables. I hate trying to keep them clean.

Coffee tables come and go around here. Right now we're without one.
But when we have one, I like it to be empty. We tend to like to use it for things like games, toys, projects, etc.

I love our coffee table ... it has a hammered copper top and just pulls the room together. Right now it has a Tracy Porter bowl on it to hold the remotes, and a couple of coffee table photo books of places we've traveled.

I can't believe so many people don't have a coffee table. Mind blown. Heathens! Where in the hell do you eat cereal and paint your nails while watching Real Housewives?

I don't keep anything on it. We bought a new one 2 years ago when we bought our leather sectional. I love it because it has a couple drawers to store DH's crap. The best part is that the top pops up to use as a table to rest your laptop on or makes it convenient to eat snacks. Built in TV tray.

We have a small fake leather ottoman, had a big wooden one, but saw my grandbaby fall backward and almost hit her head, decided at that moment to go for something soft... just in case.
I keep a tray to hold remotes and a couple of books on it...the cats LOVE it and have already decorated it with scratch marks. siiiiigh (good thing it was a Craigslist find)

I have always had one. It has books, magazines, coasters and a basket for junk. Right now there is also a bowl I bought in Canada that holds other junk. It's organized junk though and never overly cluttered. My cats don't mess with the stuff on it. They prefer to sit on the end table beside me and randomly knock things off it when I'm looking at them. It's very deliberate.

No, I live in a tri-level house with small rooms. I need all the floor space I can get!

I have one in the living room with a trio of candles on it and one in the upstairs parlor with another set of candles. Both have storage space underneath to keep my pack rat ways from spilling out.

That's exactly what I use mine for. Painting nails, eating cereal in the morning, putting my feet up on while watching tv. I hate it when I'm in a house without a coffee table, I never know what to do with myself.

No coffee table in my house. Not adverse to owning one if I run across one I love but so far I've not loved one enough to shell out the cash for it.

We have a large round glass table in our living room too! It came w/the living room set or believe me, I never would have chosen glass! It's almost impossible not to scratch the thing, I must warn you.
The shape & material were tough to work with, but one day in Home Goods, this dish (for lack of a better word) called out to me. It's really heavy - feels like it's made of cement. Think bird bath basin and you'll be in the ball park. It's got vines & dragonflies cast into it and the colors work w/the room, so I'm pretty happy w/it.

Of course, where else would we put our drinks when we're in the living room or family room? In the living room we have a glass one (which I hate, it is the devil to keep clean and I really want to replace it with a wooden one) and in the family room we have a wooden rectangular one from Ikea. I also don't understand not having a coffee table, but to each his own, right?
I like keeping our tables clear, except for coasters or the remotes. They get filled up anyway with drink glasses and dinner plates (yeah, we're bad-now that DS is grown up we eat dinner in front of the TV).
Debbie in MD.

An end/side table Currently I use a child sized picnic table in our living room. It sits to the side of the sofa so it's not taking up valuable floor space. The room doubles as my son's therapy room. Yes, a picnic table in the living room.

No. Dh doesn't like furniture in the way, so no table. In fact, one year I came home from spending my summer in Michigan and dh had moved all the furniture to the outside walls of the living room. I was annoyed, but a friend reminded me that it wasn't a big deal. I'm not into decorating, it wasn't a power play, he just preferred it that way. So, I left them that way.

No coffee table in the living room.
In the family room we have a glass table with a wood base. It's actually an end table, but the size works better because we have a sectional sofa with a chaise, so it's kind of U-shaped and there isn't a lot of room for a coffee table. The other end table (we have two the same) is at the side of the chaise end of the couch, which is where I usually sit in that room. It is higher than a coffee table usually is, but that's better for when we have people over and they need to put a plate or drink on it. We don't put our feet up on it.
We usually have one interesting piece on the table. Sometimes it's a wood/glass marble game. It used to be a chess set. Might be a silver tree-shaped dish at Christmas time or another seasonal item. There are usually a couple coasters there too.

In my living room I have an old steamer trunk instead of a coffee table. And in the family room we have a big upholstered leather ottoman because I have too many clumsy little kids.

Not anymore. My grandson at 1 year (literally the day before his first birthday) fell into it, head first. 11 stitches later. It's gone & never coming back. I hate that damn table!
