From CNN website-
A pizza crust with the DNA of Daron Wint is what led investigators to issue a warrant for his arrest in connection with last week's quadruple homicide and arson at a Washington mansion, a source with knowledge of the investigation said Thursday.
Two pizzas were delivered to the home while the victims were being held hostage last week, and an envelope with cash had been left outside on the porch for the pizza, the source said.
Wint's DNA was found on a pizza crust that an ATF forensics team recovered from the scene, the source said. A Domino's franchise near the home confirmed to CNN that it delivered a pizza to the home on the evening of May 13, and police have been in contact with the franchise.
A warrant for Wint's arrest was announced Wednesday night.
I have been watching this tragic story of a brutal home invasion. The family and their housekeeper murdered. It reminded me of the Petit family in Connecticut. I was listening to CNN this morning and they reported that there is evidence that the youngest victim, the little boy was tortured.
If they have the DNA of the suspect he's been on the radar of the criminal justice system for quite some time. I hope that this family receives justice. May they rest in peace.

I've been following this story, it's so sad and shocking. Curious though how do you accept a pizza without showing your face to the door?

A very sad story, heinous crime. Earlier today an article stated how the victims(at least the adults) were bound & ultimately killed. Horrific!!

Amazing that the DNA was on file to match with. Such a gruesome crime.
I'm wondering if the $40,000 cash delivery from the office (for a new start-up, if I remember right?) was actually ordered *after* they began being held. Seems like a very odd coincidence (cash delivered home?), unless the criminal(s) had prior knowledge of the impending cash delivery.
Very sad that in all the phone calls and texts that the family (seemingly) was forced to make, it was not apparent to anyone outside that there was something so terribly wrong going on at the home. Like a code phrase or something.
That poor family and employee/friend.

I just saw this covered on the news. What a senseless and sad story, but I'm glad they have someone in custody so quickly. Unbelievable that it is through DNA on a pizza and that a pizza was ordered in the middle of the crime.

We're not privy to the details of the cash drop off, what was said to him, etc. However the husband of the maid held overnight did come to the house looking for his wife. He knocked on the door and no one answered but he said he could hear someone behind the door so he walked around the house then the husband (held captive) called him to tell him his wife (the maid) was at the hospital with his wife. The husband found this odd since his wife didn't drive and hardly spoke english and never ever spent the night there, but again he could hardly imagine this scenario taking place. I'm sure he's kicking himself now but I think we don't think worse case scenario.

He couldn't have possibly been the ring leader. There is going to be more to this case. How sad for the two teenage daughters away at boarding school.
Joe Biden lives in the area so I am shocked that he/they didn't stand out as suspicious.

What those poor people went through is just incomprehensible, but that poor, poor little boy. No one deserves that but especially not an innocent child.

The more I hear about this story, the sicker I feel about it.
And the payout of $40,000? That's all? There had to have been another reason for this crime because $40,000 is nothing in relation to the lives of 4 people.

The local news has said that the boy was burned, but did not have blunt force trauma to his body. It was the other 3. I know the area well and anyone can walk around there and not be considered suspicious. The VP's residence is up on a hill surrounded by fencing so his home is not really near anyone else's.
ETA: I see that they updated the story about the boy. So sad. Seriously, if they asked the family for the money, they probably would have given it to them. Their deaths are totally senseless.

Joe Biden lives in the area so I am shocked that he/they didn't stand out as suspicious. People come and go through DC neighborhoods all the time. It's actually one of the cool things about the city. If you're referring to the photo on TV,, a black guy dressed like that walking through almost any neighborhood in DC would definitely not be unusual. ETA at least DC proper, suburbs might be a different story. ETA again. A black guy dressed like that would live in that neighborhood, it's not all "mansions", behind them are carriage houses that become rentals and a few streets over smaller houses often divided into condos and apartments.

It's a scary world we live in. These poor people were just going about their lives and torturing anyone, let alone a little boy, is just heartbreaking.

Fox News is reporting that police are searching Brooklyn NY for the suspect and his girlfriend said he plans to give himself up. This is also not a random crime according to the Washington Police Chief said that he knew Mr. Savopoulos's through his business.

The suspect has ties to my area, so the local police are on the lookout for him here. I hope that they find him very soon.

Incredibly sad. That poor family.
This reminds me a lot of the Harvey family murder in Richmond, VA. A friend came to the door during their ordeal also and did not realize what was happening. The whole family was murdered and the house set on fire.

Since Joe Biden lives in the area I would assume that the neighborhood has a strong secret service presence and as a result is a bit safer than o say my neighborhood here in Washington D.C.

Olan gotcha - upper NW, safest city in America Ha. My car was broken into this past week between the hours of 5:30p.m.-7:30p.m. Two whole hours. Broad daylight. Construction on several homes nearby. But I just think the secret service would be trained to notice someone not following a normal routine or other "off" things etc.

So sad, so tragic. To torture a family for days, esp. a 10-yr old, takes an especially psychotic mind.

I do think that the LEOs involved should be congratulated for the speedy arrest. That was some fine police work.

I was in that neighborhood 2 weeks ago to visit the Finnish Embassy then decided to walk around to kill time before a hair appointment. It was my first time walking off Mass ave and was amazed at all the beautiful houses back there. But it was also eerie because I was the only one walking on the sidewalk, the neighborhood of mansions was deserted of foot traffic which is not something you often find during the day in DC.
