Oh my gosh, I'm sorry Virginia. I try not to google symptoms either, because I know I can have some subtle hypochondriac tendencies. It's a good thing you did, though.
You have inadvertently encouraged me to call my doctor about an issue/symptoms I've been sitting on longer than I should have. I will do that this morning.

So sorry to hear this. My hopes are for all good news from here on out -- as in "easily removed" and "not cancer" and "you'll be back running marathons in no time". (even if you don't run marathons now it would still be good to hear. )

Please call your primary doctor and be sure to record the conversation for us. I'm glad you were a strong advocate for yourself - we know our bodies and our intuition is usually spot on. It might sound scary but at least it's a diagnosis and now you can proceed with a plan. Good luck with treatment. We're here for you!

I hope you were able to get some sleep last night and have someone going with you today to take notes. Good for you trusting your gut and staying on this, especially when once you reach a certain age every sympton is attributed to menopause or perimenopause.

I do have an urge to call my primary care doc and tell her I told you so but I have other things to worry about at the moment, don't I? I think he needs to know. How can he prevent this from happening again if he doesn't. I am sure he wants to be a good Dr. Knowledge is the key to that. I wouldn't call him. It will tick you off if he makes excuses and is defensive. Write him a factual note letting him know. With his name on the envelope so no one else opens it first When I found out the Drs office gave me the wrong prescription, not what my medical file said I was on, I was furious. It was hard to let it go. XoXoXoXo jen

Sending positive thoughts to you and uksue. And no need to call your pcp. When I had Cushing's disease every time I saw another specialist, they asked where I wanted records sent, and part of pre-op testing is medical clearance by your pcp. Hopefully, you'll get a face-to-face office visit where you can be as gloat-y as you want.

I'm glad you pressed on, and got yourself seen by a dr. who listened to you and didn't pass off your symptoms as age related and correctly diagnosed you!
I'll be thinking of you and sending thoughts and prayers your way during surgery and treatment.

I'm so very sorry to hear this, but am also glad that you were your kickass, take no BS self and advocated for yourself until you got answers. You are in my thoughts and I have no doubt you'll kick whatever this is completely and totally to the curb.

Don't specialists send the info to your pcp anyway ?
Not aware of your back story, but glad you are finding answers.
I know a woman who was diagnosed with an adrenal tumor whew she was pregnant. Drs wanted her to terminate pregnancy and have surgery. She refused to abort and had the tumor removed using acupuncture for anesthesia !!!

Drs wanted her to terminate pregnancy and have surgery. She refused to abort and had the tumor removed using acupuncture for anesthesia !!! Normally yes but I don't know in this case as it was my GYN who referred me to the endocrine specialist. When I saw him this morning he did say he'd talked to my gyn this morning and told him what was going on. My gyn was the one who pushed hard to get me into the endocrine clinic as fast as possible and I probably owe him a beer. I like both my gyn and my endocrinologist very much and I feel like I'm in good hands. And I already did yell at my PCM a little. I felt like she was insinuating that my high blood pressure was lifestyle related and I knew (the way you know things about yourself that no one else can) that it hadn't anything at all to do with lifestyle and something else was causing it. I was pissed she maybe didn't believe me when I self-reported healthy habits, you know? I know people exaggerate but I was sure something was wrong and was making a point to be completely honest with her and she still didn't seem to believe me. I was almost shouty. Anyway. I won the argument but the prize was (probably) cancer.

I know it's trite, but truly, the only way to survive this with your sanity intact is to take it one day at a time.
I will keep you in my prayers, dear Pea friend.

I just read your update. I'm glad the surgery will be sooner rather than later because waiting is awful. Could I give you just one piece of advice? Well, I'll give it anyway, and if you don't want to read it then skip this post now. My advice, if you haven't done so already, is to get a notebook and take it with you to every single appointment of any kind. Write down every single thing anyone says to you, nurses, techs, doctors, whoever. Write down phone numbers (or glue business cards in the back), and whatever else. This serves two things -- one, you're in shock and probably won't remember some of what they all say. And, eventually when you start seeing lots of different people you'll forget who said what. And two, you'll be surprised at what comes in handy. I remember sitting in the infusion center hooked up to IVs, just minding my own business. I overheard two of the nurses talking about a particular radiation specialist at the hospital (the infusion center was affiliated with Georgetown Hospital but located elsewhere). The phone number they had for her wasn't correct and they were trying to get through to the hospital operator and the lines were busy, etc. My ears perked up when I heard them talking about her because I had just been for an appointment with her. lol. I called one nurse over and said I had the radiation lady's number right in my handy notebook. Anyway, my notebook was my lifeline during the craziness of surgery and after-surgery treatment. I've forgotten whether you have kids...? By the way, my cancer surgery and treatment was 15.5 years ago.
