Yup, it's a management rule but there are no numbers. Visitors do sometimes take front spaces but these people do it every.single.day.

I would be annoyed by the parking. Any chance they aren't aware of the front/back rule if they are new tenants? I'd politely tell them or management or you'll have an ongoing problem, (Unless the difference between front/back isn't such a big deal that it doesn't matter if this continues to happen?)
The dog thing would only bother me if the dog was a barker....otherwise I'd be fine with it. But, I generally like dogs!

I don't think it has anything to do with age. Or maybe it's a generational thing. But I have always been a rule follower, even as a child. So what bothers me know bothered me then too!

Yes, yes, make room on the cranky old lady bench for me.
Rules are rules. They pertain to all or they pertain to no one.

I am not a rule follower, but I do believe in fairness. It's only fair that people get the same number of front spaces. That's not being cranky. That's wanting fairness.

Thre are a lot of things that I will let slide but people who park in my space would end up with no air in their tires every single time they took my spot.

I'm 34 and I'll happily classify myself as a "cranky old lady" with you because both of those things would irk me. I HATE when people do not follow rules. Hate it. And like you, even if it does not pertain to me exactly, I am still bothered by it (the parking spot one does affect you).

It could be a service dog. Even small ones can be. You just don't know. I mean if it is against the rules do you really think they'd be flaunting it like that. They might be trying to rehome it or watching it for a family member and got permission for a short period. So many things not all of them about rule breaking.
The parking spot one. Go to management. It's that simple.

I think those are legitimate reasons to be annoyed. They would annoy me too, but I'm 54 so maybe I'm cranky old lady too! Little things like that don't ruin my day, but it always makes me shake my head at how so many people think that rules don't apply to them. Last week at the Walmart in the underground parking lot there was a guy who took up 4 parking spaces with his brand new big A$$ truck. Yeah buddy, your truck is so much better than everyone else's that you need to take up 4 parking spaces. Why not just park farther back like we do with our fairly new big A$$ truck! And here is the picture to prove it! In Tucson, that would get his shiny truck keyed. How ridiculous.

This is a new neighbor with a dog in my complex...right next door. Dh says it doesn't bark but, well, it's a dog so it could bark!Glad I'm not the only cranky old lady around. FTR I'm 53. And, yes, they just jacked up our rent but dogs are still not allowed! Actually there are some dogs that can't bark for one reason or another. I wouldn't be worried about the dog barking until you hear the dog barking. Your complaint about no dogs may be a valid one unless as others mentioned, that it is indeed a service dog. Life is too short to get worked up over things that have little or no effect on you. The parking situation - well that is worthy of grumbling.

Include me in the cranky gang! The area we live in is designated residents permit parking only and it's very well known! People still come and park just because they can't be bothered to walk to a couple of shops from the official car park and I get very tetchy about that.....and moan about it to my family! Can't say I'm sorry when the Traffic Warden slaps a ticket on their windscreen!

I'll be cranky with ya!
It irritates me horribly when others don't follow the rules.
It's like at my work - no breaks allowed other than the designated ones.
Oh, unless you are a smoker. Then you may decide to leave the working area at any time you decide you are having a nic fit and go calm your urges.
(And no, not a diss on smokers. A diss on management who doesn't enforce the rules. And on the people who break the posted rules.)

I don't see what the big deal is here; if all of parking spaces were full it would be a problem and rude, but from the looks of the picture the garage is practically empty. It just doesn't seem worthy of irritation to me.

none of you are cranky old ladies (yet). A cranky old lady is the type who thinks that because they are 'old' the rules (and common courtesy ) do not apply to them and the do what they please and say what they please. And they usually curse worse than sailors. They'll take your front spot because they are old and should not have to walk very far and if you say anything to them they will bite your head off. Unless of course there are witnesses at which time they will play the defenseless sweet old lady act and make people stare at you like your an ax murderer. I wouldn't be surprised if one of those trucks was driven by a real cranky old (entitled ) lady.

I live in a apt that doesn't allow any pets and I recently seen a neighbor with a dog and I was pissed just because I want a dog so bad...but it's a rule. So I'm stuck following the rules and she gets her dog. Blah! Find a psychologist and have him/her write a script that you need a pet for anxiety. You might have to shop around but psychologists for hire are everywhere.
Unfortunately I know about six people, all around the nation, that have done this successfully.
If they can abuse a situation, why can't you?

Add me to the list of cranky old ladies. It's the sense of entitlement that some people have that drives me nuts.
As to the big truck parked across four spots, the last time someone did that in our office parking lot they got keyed.

There are three women where I work who have their own scheduled smoke breaks (scheduled by them!!!). We also have designated break times but you could set a clock by these three...8:30, 11:30 and 1:30 every.damn.day.

Things like that annoy me too. Especially the parking! We have one assigned space per condo and all others need to park in the guest spots. Well my space happens to be the first space closest to the building (also right by the staircase to the second floor) so if I am not there people seem to think it is ok to park in my spot and if I am there they park in font of the staircase which blocks in my car and the car on the other side of the lot from being able to pull out. I found a note with duct tape on the window is effective for those in my spot..especially when left out in the 95 degree temps we have! And the idiots who park in front of the stairwell I have had to go door to door knocking to find out what asshole is parked there. It's always "oh I was just there for a minute" or " I didn't know". BS ..if there are guest spots and you are a guest then that is where you should park..and you should NEVER park and block in cars! I can't say too much regarding the animals as when I moved in I was told cats were allowed (they did not consider them pets) then at one point they allowed dogs and just recently they are now saying no pets again but they don't enforce it. I love animals so I am a bit biased on that one!

I would be irritated that the apartments allow cats but not dogs. LOL If this is a new neighbor, like Scrappower said, there are many reasons they might have a dog. Maybe the pup is only temporary.
As for the parking, I would knock on the neighbors door, introduce yourself, welcome them to the neighborhood and then let them know what the parking policy is. I would just say something like I know you are probably unaware of the policy since you are new. If that didn't work, I would go to management.
As for the trucks taking up 4 spots, I can see what the PP said about the underground parking garage. It does look empty. It is still not something they should have done but I guess if they are making a quick run in and out and the parking lot is empty, it probably isn't that big of a deal. It would still irritate me. If someone did it with a busy parking lot, they would be asking to get keyed. I wouldn't do it but I bet someone would.
I worked at a large manufacturing company years ago. There were thousands of people coming in and leaving at the same time. Due to this, everyone was required to back into your parking space so that when you left, you pulling out forward. It helped make sure you didn't hit a person in the parking lot. Also, if any of your tires were touching any of the parking lines, you would get a ticket. Everyone was required to park nose out and within their parking spot.

I'm becoming a cranky old lady too.
Yesterday we were at Costco. It was busy and people were lined up to get out the door with their carts (you know how they check your receipt against what's in your cart). There were 2 people checking and one line up, and the person at the front just went to the first of the checking people that opened up. And then this one guy decides he's going to just go right up to the front, passed about 8 or 8 carts in line, and as he walked by us, I said to DH "how rude". Rude guy turned and said "there are 2 people". DH said "yes, and 1 line". So he goes to the front, then turns and points at us and said "take them first, they were here first", in a derogatory tone. I replied "no we will wait our turn in line, like everyone else but you are doing".
Now this set us back by about 30 seconds. No big deal. But it really pissed me off.

Walmart parking guy needed this treatment: Everyone needs to start packing sidewalk chalk in their cars! This makes me laugh. My FIL used to do this when his truck was new and I told him that he was just asking to get it keyed. He was shocked that taking up 4 parking spaces would annoy someone. Sometimes you can't fix ignorance. I'd be annoyed by the parking situation at your apartment complex also. I think it makes life more simple to have assigned spots but I know not everyone sees it the same way.

I am amazed there are places that discriminate against dogs, but then, I would not want to live in such a place. I would move to a place that allows dogs -- that, seriously, embraces dogs and treats them like the little gods/goddesses that dogs are, and treats their owners like the tasteful god-like creatures that they are. Why are the miniature dachshund owners living in such an unpleasant place? They should move to a civilized place where dogs are beloved.
