the public in my area, and it's freeing! Seriously, this is the first time in decades I've worn sleeveless tops in public. Except for when I'm walking for exercise-- then I'll wear a tank.
There are so many more summer blouses if you're willing to go sleeveless!
I am not ashamed. Well, I am a little... but not enough to return these blouses...

I'm with you, and hoping my shame drives me to keep pumping so they'll be better by July 4.

I bought a tank top this afternoon. I'm going to be spending a lot of hot evenings at swim practice and meets, and I refuse to sweat more than necessary. If people are offended, too bad, so sad.

I have no shame...I free my arms at the first sight of warm temps. Besides, my upper arms are the least offensive part of me so I figure the public can just deal with it.

Even in high school when I weighed 114, my upper arms weren't great.

Even Madonnas has some swing in her bingo wings.......I figure there's no hope for me Seriously, when I look around I realise my upper arms shouldn't be too much of a problem for anyone.

Good for you! I'm not there- I don't think I ever will be. I think my arms are my worst part. I also have this weird boob/upper arm/arm pit think I hate going on. other people don't seem to have it as much... Ugh.

I don't have a problem wearing sleeveless shirts, exposing my shameful arms.
But I hate trying to find a sleeveless shirt that doesn't also show the side of my bra. That I won't show.

Ugh, I'll sometimes wear a sleeveless dress. But, ew, the crepe skin arms are so unattractive.

My arms used to be one of my best features. Then middle age crept out of nowhere and brought me these weird flabby appendages that I didn't even recognize.
But since I started PiYo, I have to say there is a HUGE improvement. I can once again go sleeveless without feeling self conscious!

I wear sleeveless tops all summer long. Not because I have great arms, but because it's too disgustingly hot/humid where I live. If I didn't wear sleeveless I would have sweaty pits all summer...blech. That being said, I'm trying to tone my arms right now.

Where I live, it is simply too hot to try to keep your self completely covered. And since it pretty common to have flippy-flappy arms, we are all in good company.
I had the most amazing epiphany at the beach last weekend. I have spent an enormous amount of time and energy being self-conscious of my body. Granted, I have lost a lot of weight, but I am definitely not the size two of my youth. Anyway, I am sitting in my chair, once again yanking on my swim suit so it isn't clinging to my fat, and thinking that everyone is staring at me and wondering what in the ever loving hell I am doing on the beach I started watching everyone else. There were women of all shapes and sizes and ages rocking their suits and not caring what flying fart what everyone was thinking. Really...the were walking and laughing and having fun and it appeared that they were not even thinking about anything but their beautiful day at the beach.
So I am trying that approach to my every day life too. The other day I wore not only a sleeveless shirt, but the whole thing was held together with a string and required a strapless bra to wear. You know what? I wore it book club-a group of women I have known for at least 12 years and I got a ton of complements. Someone even said that they had never seen my arms before and I should quit covering up so much-no one could see the weight I lost.
All this to say that I am pretty sure confidence comes into play a lot more than what we really look like does.
Wear your sleeveless and rock on.

I despise the trend of sleeveless/tiny cap sleeves in tops and dresses these days. Since I used to be extremely heavy years ago, not only do I have the swingy bat wings, but my skin is destroyed with stretch marks. I just do NOT feel comfortable showing my floppy trashed skin. I am very self-conscious of it. Just yesterday I was looking for a cute summer dress in an all-over cherry print. I could not for the life of me find any with short sleeves. Same thing with even cute t-shirts. They all have these super short sleeves. I am pretty much stuck with the traditional Hanes-type t-shirts that are not cute prints or tapered near the waist. It seriously makes me want to cry.

Great topic! I'm ready to bare mine any day now.
I had to get a new dress for a wedding, and I cou not find but one sleeved dress in my size. After trying on several dresses, I decided that my arms should not rule my life, and the cap sleeves looked fine.

I call them my "Mommy Wings". All part of my superhero Mom appearance. They're fabulous because I'm fabulous and I earned the right to bare them! Just don't let those pits get hairy! Or maybe, let your pits get hairy and then no one will notice your arms at all.

I've been forced to go sleeveless because the sleeves on most tops seem to be made for anorexics. I've never had thin arms, even when the rest of me was really thin. Middle age brought along some big arms just as sleeves got really skinny. It's a lose-lose situation.

I absolutely love the woman from the UK that I met while on vacation. She was heavy and she was in her two-piece and she was having a fabulous time! And her husband was right there with her hugging her.

I think I've reached the point that if people are concerned about what I look like on the beach, they need to get a life.

In my religion, I get stares and glares from people when I don't cover my arms and legs completely. Get over it is the look I give them. If I want to wear sleeveless that is my choice. If the climate is too hot, wear what you want. I don't look at people bigger or smaller than I am and don't care what they are wearing. Staying cool in the summer is the most important thing. I do look at shoes, though! I see pretty clothes all the time, but I do love to look at shoes (and boots!)

I don't feel shame over my upper arms, or any other part of my body. I used to. But not now. I reached a point in my life where it doesn't matter any more. Somebody doesn't like the look of my body? Then that's okay with me. Some people find me repulsive to look at, some people find me attractive to look at. There is a very small number of people whose opinion actually matters to me. I've outlived several of my friends and all of my immediate family. Things like what my upper arms look like don't mean much any longer.

I'm 20 lbs overweight but my arms carry a disproportionate amount of my extra weight. I just recently wore sleeveless shirts a couple of times and it WAS very freeing! I still feel somewhat uncomforable when I look in a mirror, but then I go off about living my life and forget about it.

Good for you! I can't deal with the pasty whiteness or the annoying little red bumps on mine so I keep that mess covered up. help is on the way! have you tried raw organic virgin coconut oil for those annoying red bumps. It is called keratosis pilaris, KP, or nicknamed chicken skin or chicken flesh. I had it on 50 % of my body and it was horrible. after two days of rubbing on coconut oil (solid in my hand because the weather was cold, but I just rubbed my hands together to melt it) i saw improvement, after 6 days of daily use it was 95% gone and it remains that way, about 5 years later. I still rub on coconut oil once or twice a week. I am amazed at the difference!! I highly encourage you to try it. I only buy Nature's Way raw, virgin organic c.o. Good luck!
