American girl movies are not very expensive at walmart. They may not be I don't know. I'll check but I imagine a just released would be twenty dollars. I'm not going to spend $60 on movies to take home when I Already have $100 per child in the gift bags. I'll just keep the movie or donate it. I really don't want to hurt anyone's feelings.

I would so just rent or buy one copy and keep it at your house. Also, my DD would like to know when you're doing this so she can show up lol. Sounds like a FUN time.

I am really looking forward to it. I'm having to limit myself to how much more I want to do to keep from going overboard. I tend to do this when it concerns the grands.

Rent it from Redbox. It would cost under $3. I am guessing it would be there the same day it is released to buy.

Sounds like a fun weekend, but I would probably keep the movie at my house for them to watch when they came back.

why not buy one more copy and one to each family? I would have to buy three and I still have food to buy for this adventure. I saw this on FB: you see something for $7 and think, I could make that. And $92 in craft supplies later........... That is me and this camp. I must have misunderstood, I thought there were only 2 families, 4 kids total. I totally get not wanting to spend anymore and I think you have an awesome weekend planned for them, they won't miss not getting to take the movie home one little bit!

What a wonderful party! I like the idea of sharing it and maybe they could hand write letters to pass it on to the next family to start as pen pals!

Honestly, I think one prize for a small group of 5 girls, and all your DGD's, yeah, I don't think you should do that. Either keep the movie at your house, rent it instead of buying, or get one for each girl. You mentioned $75, but I noticed on Amazon that the movie is only $15, so that would be a bit of a savings if you went the route of getting a copy for each girl.

Do you remember when we were kids and our parents didn't walk on eggshells in fear of a child's oh-so-brittle feelings?
Winning stuff at parties was fun. Not winning stuff at parties is something we dealt with and we were made better for it.

My opinion differs from the group, but I think that you could give the video away as an extra prize, especially because you all giving all of the girls so much. Draw names, make it a game, or use a random way to decide who gets to take it home.
You weekend sounds like it will be an absolute blast!

I say just keep it at your house for the future. The camp sounds like a blast and I'm sure your granddaughters will love it. Quick question...do you have grandsons? Will you be doing anything with them in the future too? My mom had a tea party (and I mean, it was serious...she planned for months on it too) and was going to invite the girls. When the boys heard, they wondered why they weren't invited. She never thought they would be interested but once she realized this, they were invited too and they loved it. Just something to think about...boys like fun things too (but I can totally understand why they weren't invited to an American Girl camp and I don't even know if there are boys!).
Have fun! I know the girls will love it.

If I were you I'd keep the movie at your house. It will be one more reason why the grandkids want to come see you.
I think your American Doll camp sounds like fun! What a great memory you are creating.
