A couple weeks ago anxiousmom asked me in a thread how I got interested in cooking. I was trying to up my post count so I went into a long winded explanation in several posts. ScrapsontheRocks read it all and sent me a pm and told me she'd like to send me a cookbook from where she lives in South Africa! I got it yesterday and I spent much of my free time googling to find equivilents for ingredients. I ended up reading it last night like a novel! I know, I'm weird that way but how fun to see what other cultures eat! This was such a fun, wonderful gift ScrapsontheRocks is a sweetheart! Thank you so much!

I on the other hand am plodding along just hoping to make it to 2000 by the forum anniversary date. If I don't pull the rag out I'll never make it. BTW ScrapsontheRocks is sweet for sending you a gift you are certain to appreciate.

So very glad it arrived! We have a notoriously iffy postal service.
OP, you are most welcome. Hope you are able to get some of the ingredients you need and I look forward to reading about your results. Goodnight from Jo'burg.

As a South African ex-pat I'd love to know which book she sent you and what you're going to make. Please share. And ScrapsontheRocks, if you'd like to send me some peppermint crisps I wouldn't say no;) (just kidding though as I don't think they'd make it without melting). Dit was 'n baie lekker ding om te doen!

What a wonderful gift! You'll have to come back after you've made a recipe and tell us about it. This is one of those times where it would be great if we all lived closer. We'd just invite ourselves over to your place for a cooking party!

Dit was 'n baie lekker ding om te doen! I successfully sent Peppermint Crisps to Wilna F via the old board! Some arrived a bit crushed, but she still had enough intact ones to use to suck milk through the channels! To the non- SA Peas, this is an old boarding school trick. PM me your postal addy, happy to help!
