Yes, weird question. That said, am I the only person who doesn't know their blood type? The last time I had blood drawn I asked and she said they don't type without a reason. Really! This was a science class project we did in school in 7th grade. We typed everyone's blood and then graphed out the results of the whole class! Also if you are pregnant they want to know that in case you are Rh negative so you can get the rhogam shot.

I know mine because I donate blood whenever I can.

The infographic on that link is so interesting. I was first going to comment about the fact that Japanese people are encouraged to put their blood type on their dating profiles, but then I got to the part about there being different condoms for different blood types, which I definitely was not expecting.

Like rain angel, I was alerted to potential childbirth issues as I am O beg. My older sis is also neg, and married a pos, so she needed an injection after her first baby. We were anxious before her second child was born.
Luckily, dh is the same type & thus so is ds. SIL is too, so we can all be donors for each other, and anyone else. We can only receive from another O neg.

O neg is the universal donor and AB pos is the universal receiver meaning they can be transfused by any blood type. There are other factors of course. I wonder how someone whose blood type has changed due to stem cell transplant would fit into that scenario. It's not like I got a personality transplant. ?

I wasn't expecting that either. It put the brakes on asking my son some questions (his wife is Japanese) about the compatibility per the blood type. I realized I might be asking a more personal question than I realized.
