We have a combination of sealed hardwood and travertine flooring in our home - and two dogs who frequently come in with muddy paws. These microfiber pad mops and the spray like in the Bona system simply do not do the job. I need something that really cleans a dirty floor.
I'm in the habit of using nothing but warm water to wash my hardwood - but what kind of mop? I hate sponge mops. I used to have a Libman wonder mop but the cleaning lady complained it was too small. I hate the rope mop I bought to appease her because it has to be wrung out by hand.
Should I be looking at one of those Floormate things? The travertine is "delicate" and I'm afraid of hurting it. What do the peas if you have "delicate" floors that get actually dirty?

I have a Hoover Floormate and really like it. It does an excellent job cleaning my tile/laminate floors and isn't at all hard on them. It's also great for wood/laminate because it dries the floor as you clean. My only issue with it is that it doesn't get all that well into corners and edges. My everyday mop is the O-Cedar Easy Wring Spin Mop. I LOVE this thing. So easy to use and cleans my floors amazingly well. L

I love my Haan Steam Mop. I just bought a Haan Steam Mop. I've worked all weekend so I haven't had a chance to play with it yet.

A Bona system, or steam mop.

I just ordered the Norwex mop system today. I will see how I like it. Only uses water. I have two dogs and want to get the hair up everyday and they HATE the vacuum otherwise I would vacuum everyday. Now I will just mop everyday. The gal said they have a guarantee and if I don't like it I can return it.

If you have any kind of warranty on your hardwood floors, I would avoid a steam mop. They are very bad for hardwood. Between my bona and my norwex mop I have been able to deal with everything.

We had contractors here over a long period of time for repairs due to water damage from a pipe that froze and burst. While they were as neat as could be wished for my floors were really dirty. I gave up trying to clean until it was over, it was pointless.
I bought a Sienna Luna Plus Cleaning System (ordered on-line at Bed, Bath & Beyond - took the shipping slip with a 20% off coupon to the store for adjustment). I highly recommend this *but* I think using it once or twice a year for deep cleaning on the mop setting is the limit on what I would use it for. I think Bona is much better for hardwood floor care. I use the floor setting on my vacuum up all the dirt first before using the Bona mop.

I love my Haan Steam Mop. This is what I have. Easy to use on both hardwood/laminate and tile. One reason I like it...the floors dry fairly quickly and then I throw the removeable mop part into the washer.

Thank you, peas! I went looking at Norwex mops on Amazon and got sucked down the review-reading rabbit hole. Ended up purchasing a whole bunch of ecloth items, including a dust mop and damp mop - supposedly better than Norwex at a lower price. We shall see! I'm excited about the prospect of chemical-free cleaning.
