We put in a small Intex pool this summer and while it's been the BEST investment ever, my girls are having a lot of issues with their faces being overly dry. Both girls are like fish and constantly under water and wearing goggles, etc. I've been using a good Eucerin cream on their faces but even that is burning when we put it on. Any suggestions on what to use? The girls are almost 10, if that matters.

Are they making sure to wash their faces off when they get out of the pool?

Have you checked your chemical levels to make sure there isn't too much chlorine in the pool? To me it sounds like their skin is overly sensitive to the chemicals. I'm not really sure if too much chlorine could cause skin sensitivity. It just seems logical to start there. Hope you find some answers.

Yes, they've been washing their faces every night and I've been doing the lotion. And the chemical levels in the pool have been perfect.

I would suggest sunblock and then maybe Vaseline before they go in the pool. Then a face wash immediately after with a gentle lotion

I am very sensitive to certain sunscreens and they make my face burn. (Feel like it burns, not sunburn). I recommend using one with physical block, not a chemical block- get one with titanium dioxide and zinc oxide as the active ingredients, and avoid oxybenzone. Also, I use one made specifically for the face, or one made for babies.
I would havethem them wash their faces as soon as they get out of the pool, too.

Look into natural coconut oil sunscreens you make. The coco ut oil will keep their skin from drying out. Also was right after they get out and apply a light cream.
I too get overly dry skin from the pool. I am very sensative to the chlorine. So I wash immediately and apply my face cream.

I was going to suggest sunblock, too, but in the form of something like olay or neutrogena-- something that is also kind of a moisturizer/skin care, water resistant if you can find it. I was thinking that if you did it as something that is skin care as well, it would take longer for the pool water to work through that layer to get to their skin.
But I have ZERO scientific basis for that recommendation; just kind of thinking it out.

Good luck. My dd's hair was GREEN the two years we had our pool up. It was sooo weird. Never had green hair before or since.

Not wait for the night time routine unless they are swimming until night time. A physical sunblock will help keep the pool chemicals off their faces as well.

Thanks for the suggestions girls! I think I'll start by having them wash their faces as soon as they're done in the pool. We are using a good sunscreen made for the face and they're applying it several times a day (they stay in for long periods of time). Thanks again for the help!!

Have you thought about changing your pool chemicals? We have used Baquacil for over 20 years, with no skin issues.
