I am extremely claustrophobic. I was left unobserved in an MRI once and climbed out because I thought I was having a heart attack. Not my finest moment. I do not like talking on the phone and I hate medical appointments and procedures. Not a phobia though. I would just prefer not to engage in those activities. I do have an irrational hatred of balloons. I find them creepy. People put them in their mouths, they feel icky, they pop unexpectedly. There is not a thing about balloons that I like. If I ran my own country they would be illegal.

Anaphylaxis (food allergy) I start hyperventilating if I feel a little tickle in my throat.
Elevators make me nervous. I was stuck in one once though after it dropped a floor.

I have a phone phobia. I hate calling people, hate, hate, hate it. I really have to get motivated to call for any appointments. It takes me quite a while to build up the courage. Texting has been awesome for me. I wish I could text doctor's offices, etc. for appointments. The clinic I go to now offers online appointment setting and it's really great! I like being able to put in a range of days and see at a glance what all of my options are. I wish more places offered it because it's so convenient. I hate going to the doctor, and the less interaction I have with setting the appointment in the first place the better.

I have an intense dislike of snakes and clowns but they don't induce panic in me. Now someone wearing a mask near me? Oh yes panic, real have to run away or I think I'm going to die panic.

I have a snake phobia! It's not fun. After my brain surgery I had hallucinations for days! I was crazy! My sweet friend took my 10 year old ds to an activity at the park that had reptiles two days after surgery. She texted me a photo of my DS with a good sized snake wrapped around his arms. I freaked out! Freaked out!
Fast's forward to the post surgery Jen, I can look at the pic without a problem. But just a PSA you can not cure people from a phobia by teasing them! It actually makes the phobia worse. Great memories! Jen

I have a problem with heights. Even small ones will make me dizzy and nauceous. One of my more gutsy moments was when I bungee jumped despite my fear of hights. I still have nightmares about it though Not very fond of crabs either. It's bordering on being a phobia, but not quite there. I once had to wade barefoot through seaweeds after swimming in the ocean, and the fear of steppjng on a crab was almost overwhelming. I'm terrified of crabs and my BFF is terrified of jelly fish. But we love swimming in the ocean. I think we raise a few eyebrows every time we scan an area before a swim

I really don't have phobias, I guess. I mean I don't like snakes or spiders, but I can definitely kill one if I need to.
The only thing I can think of is water where I can't see the bottom, especially if I am in it. Being in a boat doesn't bother me. It is just the thought of what could be in the water with me and I can't see it.

Snakes. I'm not just scared- it's a real phobia. I usually don't tell anyone because I don't want them to know and possibly try and scare me because they think it would be funny. I constantly scan the ground for snakes when out for a walk, I can't walk places where you can't see the ground (talk grass) etc.

I don't know if it counts as a phobia...but, Pickles. Hate them, hate the sight of them. I can't be in the same room with DH if he is eating one. I refuse to buy them when I go to the store. DH knows better than to even ask me, you know in case the jar breaks in the shopping cart.

Snakes. I get completely freaked out at the thought of them to the point of throwing up sometimes. It's sad really because I really enjoy hiking but the thought of snakes has kept me from it for years. I'll only go on short hikes and even then I don't really enjoy myself because I'm too worried about just seeing a snake, much less one giving a hoot about me!

Spiders definitely. Most bugs don't bother me, but add an extra pair of legs and I freak out. Deep holes. I'm not afraid of heights, but I get nauseated looking down into cavernous type holes in the ground. And I'm a trypophobe , which isn't a medically recognized phobia, but is still anxiety inducing for many people. I only recently realized there is a name for it and other people have it as well-I just thought I was really weird .

I would say the only one that truly makes me scared is WATER! I don't know how to swim and I don't enjoy being in the river, ocean, ect.
I can do a swimming pool as long I am able to touch, but I am anxious the entire time and it isn't enjoyable. That is why I don't like rivers, ect. I need to be able to touch the bottom.
I was almost in tears while watching my oldest at swim lessons last summer. I make sure not to let him see my fear, so instead, I pray. Ohhh, I don't like the water!!

(DON'T Google it if you don't know what I'm talking about, unless you have a strong stomach- I warned you!) That sort of thing really creeps me out, too-- that's sort of what I was getting at with my 'seeing inside of things' sort of comment in what I wrote, but didn't know how to say it. eta: seeing 'holes' in something that shouldn't have them, is sort of what creeps me out.

Oh, BoilerUp, roaches fly very well. If you live in an urban environment though, not out in a country setting, you will have fewer of them. How about a high rise condo?

It is (and a good PSA - don't Google it), but even things not considered gross like that can trigger it in me. A good example is the dress actress Uzo Aduba wore to the last Screen Actors Guild ceremony. It was a pretty dress, and she looked great in it, but it was really hard for me to look at it. This was before I knew trypophobia was a thing. Items with holes spaced further apart don't bother me as much, like Swiss cheese. It's weird, I know.

Snakes. And I know the exact reason why I have the phobia. When I was 13 years old our minister at our local Episcopal church took the youth group camping up in the mountains in Virginia. We were gone for about 3 days, hiking up and camping. One day after hours of hiking we rested on a rocky area overlooking the side of the mountains. The girls sat on one side of the rocks and the boys over on the other side. I was chatting sitting next to my sister and 2 other friends, it was a nice sunny day. All of a sudden we heard a rattle behind us, rattle, rattle, rattle. We jumped up screaming, looking behind us and there sat a fat rattlesnake, as we ran away as fast as we could. No one was bit, thank goodness, but it scared my sister and I to pieces. We were up in those mountains after 2 days of hiking and this was back in 1973-no cell phones. I don't know what our minister would have done if one of us had been bitten. Every since then my sister (18 months younger than me) and I have a phobia about snakes. We can't even see one or we started breathing fast and our hearts start pounding. For a long time I couldn't even see one on TV but years of watching Survivor (where there are so many shots of them) got me over that. My very favourite place on Earth is St. John USVI for many, many reasons the sailing, the snorkeling, the National Park and especially because the island is entirely SNAKE FREE. They have many mongooses on the island that eat any snakes that dare to appear. I would really love to live there one day. Debbie in MD.

No, I really don't.
The only time I have ever had something like a panic attack I was having knee surgery and had elected to have a nerve block and remain awake. I thought it would be like an epidural, but it was not - I felt completely, totally dead below the level of the block. I felt fear rising inside me and very calmly grabbed the arm of the anesthesiologist and said, "you need to put me to sleep now before I completely lose it." He told me I was doing fine and I told him that I was not going to be doing fine for very much longer. He said okay. That is the last thing I remember.

Falling from high places.
I use to think I had a fear of heights but I am okay up high as long as I am enclosed (like in a building or a plane - I am fine looking down.
But...if it is open, like a balcony or bridge, I am so afraid of heights so I figured out that I wasn't really afraid of heights. I was really afraid of falling from a high place.

I guess some rollercoasters and big rides. I've actually had a few panic attacks. I didn't realize it at first, but I was describing to someone how "you know how you can't breathe when you're on a rollercoaster except for at the highest points of the hills?" And she had no idea what I was taking about. I realized then and there that I was having a panic attack on larger rollercoasters. I also had it happen to me on mission space in Epcot, so it's not a heights thing, I think it's the speed... But the odd thing is I loved the test track which went very fast.... It's a weird fear. I'm hoping my kids will love them so they can with dh and I can relax on a park bench.

Snakes. :shudder: I can not stand to look at one. We watch Survivor and they show them all the flipping time. I close my eyes and tell dh to let me know when it's over. Same thing here! Why, why, WHY do they have to show so flipping many of them? Yep, same here, except it's when I watch Naked & Afraid. LOL
