I thought I was buying the little single servings of guacamole to take in my lunchbox. I instead bought Spicy guacamole. What were they thinking? Why would anyone prefer this over the wonderful creamy goodness of regular guacamole? I didn't realize it until I had tasted it. Man is my mouth on fire. And since I am critiquing guacamole.... I hate it when restaurants put mayonaise in their guacamole. Mayo doesn't belong in guacamole. Enough said.
hahahaha remember the old debate that became heated on the old board about whether or not Mayo belonged in guacamole? Well it shouldn't be spicy either!!! hahaha

I buy spicy guacamole, and when I order it at my favorite make-at-the-table place, I order it extra spicy. I like almost everything really spicy though. I have a theory that those of us who like spicy really have less sensitive taste buds, and spicy is adding flavor that we can actually taste.

I absolutely love extremely spicy buffalo chicken wings but this was a bit of a shock. haha It sounds like I might like this guacamole. LOL It cracks me up when I get comments for ordering the hottest buffalo wings at a buffalo wing place. Why are the cashiers shocked? Don't they see this every day?

I sometimes put sour cream in mine if I don't have enough avocado but never mayo! The DH thinks spicy is "flavor" I don't agree although a little spice is OK.

I agree about the guacamole. The fact is I can't tolerate spicy heat in anything. I guess I must have a zillion heat receptors in my mouth because even a little bit of spicy is too much for me. It's painful not flavorful! I actually get aggravated at times in the grocer store. Seems like most of the new products that come out are "bold", "hot" or "spicy." I'd like to try some of those new products but just can't tolerate the heat!

Maybe you're the opposite of a super taster. I like crushed red pepper in my guac. There should not be mayo in guac. I didn't use to be able to tolerate anything spicy, all I tasted was burn, but then I had these delicious spicy tacos in mexico and got hooked. I also once had the spiciest soup in the world, I swear the people in Beijing played a joke on us because our soup had an inch of chili oil on the top but it was good. Now I can to a Thai place and get a 10 and not even bat an eyelash, that soup basically desensitized me to spice.

If you don't salt your food, and then go someplace where it has been salted it tastes VERY salty, whereas if you regularly salt your food, the same dish will taste "normal." The more spicy food you eat, the more spice you can tolerate &/or like in your food.

Sometimes I buy wholly guacamole singles and I've tried the spicy. It's okay but I prefer the regular (classic, I think, is what they call it).
I don't really make guacamole. I just mash some avocado in a bowl and add a splash of apple cider vinegar and if I have it, some chopped jalapeno. And some salt. Fresh tomato if I have it, but I never do unless it's summertime and our tomatoes are ripe.

I'm waiting on my three avocados to ripen so I can make guacamole. I have fresh cilantro in my herb garden and a lime in the frig just waiting yum! Maybe tomorrow.

I like plain avocados on just about anything. Delicious. I also love guacamole. For me, when you add strong spices to something you love, it takes away the taste.

Grace, a little hijack on the buffalo wings...I took my son and his buddy to Buffalo Wild Wings when they were about 14. They ordered the really hot ones and the server told them that if they had to pee to wash their hands first because they weren't going to want to touch their wieners with any residual sauce that might be on their fingers.
They were both super embarrassed when she told them that. I just laughed and laughed!!!!

Oh look at you posting a controversial thread!!!
I think that some people have guacamole as the 'cool' to go along with the heat of a spicy dish so the spices are a surprise IN the guacamole.
Personally I say make it how you want to and enjoy.
