I need to get new adhesive. I took a hiatus from scrapbooking over the past year due to my work schedule, and my kids used up all my taper runners for their school projects. I've always used tape runners from AC Moore or those little squares (hate peeling the backs off of them).
What is everyone using and what do you recommend? I'm mostly a simple paper scrapbooker - not much in the way of 3-d stuff. Last I was reading the GS board about adhesive, everyone was talking about the big tape runner guns - but those things looked so huge I couldn't imagine using them or packing them for cropping away from home. What do you use?

I use that big ol' tape gun, the ATG. I have been using it since 2006 or before. I would not go back. It is easy to use, I haul it to crops and the tape refills last for ever. And I do not find it heavy or awkward to use at all.

I love my ATG gun. You get used to the size pretty quickly. I also like scor-tape for double sided tape that you can tear instead of cut. For wet glue, I use Glossy Accents.

ATG, Score Tape, Glue Dots, and Zig 2-way glue pen are my go-to adhesives.

I'm also on the ATG bandwagon and have been for a couple years. So easy to use and the roll lasts forever. I know the gun looks a little intimidating at first but I got used to it almost immediately and now hardly use anything else.

Both of these adhesives stick great. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I put in my scrapbooks, and I've never had a problem with things falling off my pages. And you really do get used to the size and weight. I have rheumatoid arthritis, so my hands don't always work as they should, but the size makes it easier for me to hold. And, the wight isn't an issue - the weight of the gun doesn't exasperate the pain in my hands, caused by the arthritis. Welcome back to the wonderful world of scrapping! I'm still a Herma tape runner fan. The ATG just seemed too big. I bought the Tombow Extreme because it is supposed to be indestructible. However it gums up on the roller everything you use it. A bit frustrating, but it does really stick things together! I also use glue dots, glue strips, and wet adhesives on occasion.

I hoarded CM tape runners when they went out of business. At some point I'll probably get at ATG. I also use glue dots for some things, and PVA when I want liquid glue.

I also love the ATG. The American Crafts This to That Dots are pretty good for a small runner.

AC this to that, using up my stash of glues before I get anything else. I am intrigued by the ATG. I always thought it would be really cumbersome.

Definitely get the ATG. I was hesitant at first but I heard about it from the boards at twopeas. I went ahead and bought one and I haven't regretted it. The adhesive lasts a while too. I don't even notice the size.

In the past, my favorite adhesive was Kokuyo, both the tape runner and dot runner. Scotch runners are supposed to be the same and I do buy those when I can find them w. a coupon. I also really like the 3L runners (again w. the coupon!) and the 3L splits in the applicator box, simple to use. Also, I still keep a box of glue dots on hand and some red-liner tape for hard-to-stick stuff. Maria

I use an ATG as well, but I'm not as fond of it as others are. I do find it to be big and bulky. I do like the fact that the adhesive rolls seem to last forever but I'm not entirely sure that it would be something I would purchase again. I saw a smaller gun at Ms recently - looks like a smaller version of the ATG but I didn't look at it closely enough to give you any information on it.

Add me to the ATG bench. It is big but once you use it a few times and get used to it, it doesn't feel awkward at all. And a bonus, I can always find it on my table !

I like the This to That solid tape runner by American Crafts, I also have used the new dispenser by Herma for their dotto and they seem to have improved that.
the ATG is too big for me, I tried a friends and found it hard to handle

If you like the little squares, but not the paper backings, look for the Click-n-Stick variety. The box acts as a dispenser and there's no peeling of the annoying backing.
I use those for my pictures, an ATG for adhering larger paper elements, and a glue pen for skinny paper elements.

For tape all I use is Sookwang. I love that stuff and I want to know that what I lay down will stay down.
I do not use tape runners at all because I just cannot work them. Yes, I know it is a learning curve but with lots of practice I still cannot work them.

My favorite is the Scotch Dot Runner. It has a really strong hold so I can also use it for altered projects and mini albums. Scor Tape and foam squares are my other must haves! The ATG was just too big for me.

I love my ATG for general use. If I am putting down wood veneer, Scotch Quick Dry. My Zig pen for the tiny Sil cuts and sayings. Oh and a humongo roll of Scotch foam from Amazon for my dimentional stuff.

I'm on the lookout for a new adhesive, so will be checking back on this thread for more suggestions. I have used Tombow for several years, but lately, I am having problems with it not sticking well.

P.S. The 3L brand that I referred to above is the "Scrapbook Adhesive" runner mentioned by scrappykindofgirl. I think that the tab dispenser by 3L is also called the "Click'n'Stick" that anniebeth likes. Sorry if I was confusing in using the brand name instead of product title. They really are good products, even better with a coupon! Maria

For things that go in page protectors, I use herms reposition able adhesive. I have been using it for 11 years, and everything has held up well. For things outside of page protectors, that will get handled more, I mostly use my atg but sometime scotch quick dry or matte medium.

My favourite is Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L. It is a tape runner that comes in 4 different versions. As a plus if you used to like CM tape runners I've read it's the same product. It's supposed to be acid free and archival if that matters to you. The 4 versions are: 1. Red Tape Runner-White Permanent-tiny slivers of adhesive-great for small spots 2. Pink Tape Runner-White Permanent Larger Squares of adhesive 3. Green Tape Runner-E-Z Dots-Repositional dots of adhesive and 4. Purple E-Z Runner-Vellum (works pretty well depending on what the background is).
Scrapboook.com carries these and I've even bought them in a pack of all 4-1 of each style. I have small hands and short fingers and for me I've always preferred the smaller tape runners. I'm also concerned about my layouts lasting and I love the fact that these are acid free. Every layout I've made with them has stayed together.

You'll have to pry my Herma tabs (no peeling of squares) and dots from my cold dead hands. :-)
I am anti ATG because once it's down it's stuck for good. I like that with the tabs or squares you can adjust them if you adhere them lightly when you first put them down.
I also use glue dots and lines as well as Glossy Accents, Zig pens and my Xyron.

I am picky about when I use the ATG. I use it for placement of big background papers, but not my layers that I may need to fuss with a bit. I also use the ATG for cardmaking so that my card fronts are secure. My happy little AC runner does the rest!
