So what adhesive is everyone using?

I use that big ol' tape gun, the ATG. I have been using it since 2006 or before. I would not go back. It is easy to use, I haul it to crops and the tape refills last for ever. And I do not find it heavy or awkward to use at all. 

ATG, Score Tape, Glue Dots, and Zig 2-way glue pen are my go-to adhesives.

^^^ What she said. Lol. Both of these adhesives stick great. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff I put in my scrapbooks, and I've never had a problem with things falling off my pages. And you really do get used to the size and weight. I have rheumatoid arthritis, so my hands don't always work as they should, but the size makes it easier for me to hold. And, the wight isn't an issue - the weight of the gun doesn't exasperate the pain in my hands, caused by the arthritis. Welcome back to the wonderful world of scrapping!

I'm still loyal to adhesive squares...yes, even with peeling the little paper backings off

I hoarded CM tape runners when they went out of business. At some point I'll probably get at ATG. I also use glue dots for some things, and PVA when I want liquid glue.

Another ATG user and Glossy Accents to hold heavier things/metal.

Definitely get the ATG. I was hesitant at first but I heard about it from the boards at twopeas. I went ahead and bought one and I haven't regretted it. The adhesive lasts a while too. I don't even notice the size.

I use an ATG as well, but I'm not as fond of it as others are. I do find it to be big and bulky. I do like the fact that the adhesive rolls seem to last forever but I'm not entirely sure that it would be something I would purchase again. I saw a smaller gun at Ms recently - looks like a smaller version of the ATG but I didn't look at it closely enough to give you any information on it.

Add me to the ATG bench. It is big but once you use it a few times and get used to it, it doesn't feel awkward at all.

And a bonus, I can always find it on my table !

If you like the little squares, but not the paper backings, look for the Click-n-Stick variety. The box acts as a dispenser and there's no peeling of the annoying backing.

I use those for my pictures, an ATG for adhering larger paper elements, and a glue pen for skinny paper elements.

I love my ATG for general use. If I am putting down wood veneer, Scotch Quick Dry. My Zig pen for the tiny Sil cuts and sayings. Oh and a humongo roll of Scotch foam from Amazon for my dimentional stuff.

P.S.  The 3L brand that I referred to above is the "Scrapbook Adhesive" runner mentioned by scrappykindofgirl.  I think that the tab dispenser
       by 3L is also called the "Click'n'Stick" that anniebeth likes.  Sorry if I was confusing in using the brand name instead of product title.

My favourite is Scrapbook Adhesives by 3L.  It is a tape runner that comes in 4 different versions. As a plus if you used to like CM tape runners I've read it's the same product. It's supposed to be acid free and archival if that matters to you. The 4 versions are: 1. Red Tape Runner-White Permanent-tiny slivers of adhesive-great for small spots  2. Pink Tape Runner-White Permanent Larger Squares of adhesive 
3. Green Tape Runner-E-Z Dots-Repositional dots of adhesive and 4. Purple E-Z Runner-Vellum (works pretty well depending on what the background is).

Scrapboook.com carries these and I've even bought them in a pack of all 4-1 of each style. I have small hands and short fingers and for me I've always preferred the smaller tape runners. I'm also concerned about my layouts lasting and I love the fact that these are acid free. Every layout I've made with them has stayed together.
