I'm kinda excited about it. The 50 Shades books were okay. A little long. The movie was fine. And I am interested in the character of Christian Grey. So I am looking forward to giving it a try.
Anyone else? It comes out this month. Searched for a previous thread but didn't see one.

I couldn't finish the first book because of the crappy writing so I don't think I'll try another book of hers. And I'm even a big fan of smut so that's saying a lot.

I do agree that the writing was Def not Pulitzer Prize winning, however as someone who has always wanted to write a book I am congratulatory on her completion of 3. Which maybe could have been 2. Editing fail.
Also I have mixed emotions on the "success" and popularity of the books. In one way it shows a possible dumbing down in popular reading. But in another way at least people responded and that had to feel pretty good.
Perhaps she has improved in her prose. Lol!!

It's not for me. I started to read the first one and gave up after a chapter or two.

I've only read the first couple of chapters of the first book as a Kindle sample and I imagine it will go something like this: Ana was flushing I noticed that Ana was flushing Errr, she's flushing again Her face really does flush a lot Oh look she's not flushing she's blushing instead...

I will probably read it. I read the other three and obviously, they aren't Pulitzer Prize winning fiction, but they are a quick, fun read!

I wonder how you can write a 50 shades book from a Christian perspective? Wouldn't the couple need to be married?

There are a couple of indie writers who have a habit of writing novels then going back and writing another from the male's perspective. I don't like it... it just seems that it's almost lazy? I'd rather they write something new. Just my opinion though...

I'm sure I'll read it at some point. I never expected the original books to be prize winners. It was fan fic on the internet after all. But they were fun, easy reads and I'm sure the new book will be the same.

I'd rather they write something new. Just my opinion though... SOMETIMES this can be interesting. Stephanie Meyer wrote a portion of book 2 of the Twilight series from Edwards perspective - not the entire book. She said she wrote it to get into his head to see develop the character more. She ended up putting it on her website at one point (not sure if it's still there or not). It was interesting to read for sure. But you're right, it can be lazy.

Haha - I totally misunderstood the title of this thread. I thought you were trying to say that someone wrote a 50 Shades of Grey book from a Christian's perspective. I was thinking to myself....'not sure that you could make that book have a Christian twist to it' PS: I haven't read any of the books or saw the movie but I've heard a lot about them from my friends that have.

The first ones were given to me by a friend. Couldn't read them. Didn't even get through the first few chapters of the first book. Won't be reading this one either.

OMGosh. I just realized I totally missed the title from a male perspective and not a Christian's perspective. I can really be , ummmm, blonde sometimes. Or dumb whichever. But it did give me a LOL at myself.

Count me among those who thought this was a religious 50 Shades. My first thought was "Well, that will be a short book. One word: no." And somehow, I bet James would manage to screw up that grammar and pacing, too.

There is another triology that I read where the author went back and wrote the 4th book from the perspective of the male character and it was kinda cool. Since I read all the 50 Shades books I'll have to read this one too.

Awesome! I would love to see how the Christian character inferred consent when the Anastasia character was saying no. But someone else will have to suffer through the writing on my behalf.

Not a chance. I read the first book and found it extremely boring and could not torture myself to read the others. Never, no way just too boring.

For that you'd need to have some original ideas, something this E.L James isn't familiar with. Remember these characters are Bella and Edward from Twilight - just with sex added. James started writing about Bella and Edward's sex life on a fan fiction site. Then because all the Twilight fans were reading it, it got popular and it was removed from the web and when the book eventually came it the names were changed to Anastasia and Christian. So all of her work so far has come directly of the ideas of another writer, not that I think Twilight is much better - but at least it was her own idea.

I wonder how you can write a 50 shades book from a Christian perspective? Wouldn't the couple need to be married? It's that missing apostrophe!! Christians' perspective = view from religious people Christian's perspective - view from main character.

I'll read it, because I read the other three.
But, I almost fear that it's going to read like the playbook of an abuser.
Christian was so controlling and stalkerish in the other books. It wasn't romantic, it was frightening.

Yup and Stephanie Meyer actually wrote Twilight from Edward's point of view too, called Midnight Sun. She had a hissy when it was leaked to the public and then didn't publish it. So once again total plagiarism.
