I get very nervous with the traffic and the kids riding their bikes. In fact last night I had a panic attack because my son was making me too nervous riding his bike. I know weird, but I just am so worried about the kids on the street getting hit by a car because there are some careless teenagers that speed down our street. I hate that we don't live on a very quiet street or also that we don't have a fenced in yard.
I have a 10 year old and a 5 year old and I usually sit outside with them and enjoy the weather. Sometimes I will go inside if all the windows are open and they are playing in the unfenced backyard, but it does concern me and I am constantly checking in on them.
I grew up in the 70's/80's and we were no where to be seen for hours and my mom would just yell out to us at dinnertime. We played in the woods, in neighbors houses and yards, in the street etc. I loved the freedom and wish so much that our kids could have that. I am not as much concerned about kidnapping, more that they are going to get seriously injured.

I live in a large neighbohood with lots of speeders and whatnot. My girl were never allowed to play out front alone until they were over 10yo. We also had walkie talkies so we could check on them if we needed to (about every 20-30 min.) Until then, they played in our fenced in backyard.
