I've never gone in to have just that done. Perhaps a nice auto repair /tire place did it when I had my car in for something else, but it's not on my radar and I have no idea even of the recommended frequency.
On that topic, a mechanic I knew once told a story of a young couple who brought their car in to fix a noise. Their oil was almost depleted. The mechanic said the remnants were just sludge in the oil pan. The couple had never changed or checked it! They didn't know it was supposed to be done.

Yup. Religiously. Not rotating tires can jack up all kinds of stuff, plus shorten their life. And tires are so damn expensive, I want to get all the life out of them that we can.
Our mechanic does it as part of our full-service oil changes, and dealerships will sometimes do them with oil changes, but Jiffy Lube type places don't do that.

I haven't because dragging a toddler and a preschooler to the tire place, and waiting 2-3 hours is not on my things I want to do list... but I went Tuesday and they couldn't rotate them because they were too worn so I bought new tires and will try to go in every 5000 miles or whatever to get it done.
They really need to make the tire place more interesting... it's next to a hardware store and a bowling alley. If it was close to a Target or craft store at least I could leave and do something while I'm waiting...

We rotate them ourselves every time we switch out our winter tires.

I do my oil changes at my dealership. They rotate the tires on a schedule (not sure how often) but when I schedule my oil change they will sometimes mention it is also time to rotate and I tell them to do it.

Yes. Uneven wear ends up costing you double. Your back tires could be fine with a bit of wear, but if your front ones are worn (or vise versa) you basically have to replace all 4, otherwise they'll all still be uneven as far as tread goes, when the new ones are on. That can cause problems with your car in general and handling, especially in wet weather.

When we'd get it done at Les Schwab, it was usually 30 mins MAX.

Thanks to my ex being a mechanic, I always got my tires rotated at every oil change. Come to find out, if you don't request it, some places won't do it. We take our cars to the place where ex used to work and he did it without us saying anything. I'll have to remember to say something next time now that he's not there. Maybe I should just take it to ex anyways. He has a small investment in the care of my car because his kids ride in it too.

Maybe I need a new Les Schwab because ours seems to take forever. It was an hour just to tell me my tires couldn't be rotated, then another hour to put on new tires.

Yes because I was told it shortens the life of the tires if you don't and our tires for the Jeep are not cheap.

yep, with every oil change. I go about 12,000 miles between oil changes. My car tells me when it's time to change the oil...what kind of driving do you do to require oil changes every 5000?

Yep. Dh is awesome about our vehicle maintenance and it has really extended the life of all our vehicles This. A few years ago when we actually had to get new tires, the owner of the shop told my husband he was going to keep them to show people & tell them how long they had lasted due to his dedication to car maintenance. Apparently we had the tires a reeaally long time, but for the life of me, I can't remember how long.

We do but until we had this car, we never have and nothing ever got jacked up or anything. DH said this is the first vehicle he's ever had tires rotated on.

It gets done with the dealer 5000 mile service package. When I was a teen my dad used to make my sisters and I rotate the tires because he wanted us all to know how to change a tire.

I had a 2007 Murano and changed the oil every 3000 miles and tires rotated 7500 miles per the maintenance schedule.
I brought a new 2015 Murano the end of March, so haven't had maintenance done yet. The first maintenance is a free at the dealership at 5000 miles.

Yes, the dealer does it at my routine maintenance. No time wasted because I get a loaner. Thank you, Volvo!

I was just told by the service people to have them rotated every 5,000 miles. Frankly, I had just "figured" that if it was routine maintenance, it would be on their routine maintenance list -- to either ask me about or to do ... routinely.

My Scion goes for service every 5K miles and the dealership has rotated the tires but not each time. Maybe I should request that it be done every time I take it in.
