If you needed to give your weight loss plan a boost to drop some more pounds quickly, what would you do? NOTE: I am NOT asking about weird lemon juice diets, or anything unsafe. If you added in some extra exercise each day while maintaining your daily caloric goal, would it result in extra pounds lost?
I am well aware there is no overnight miracle cure for being fat, and I'm not interested in doing any trendy crash diets or anything unsafe.

Is there something I can do at home?

Is there something I can do at home? Bodyweight exercises are a great place to start. You can do planks, pushups, squats, lunges, etc. in the privacy of your own living room for free. There are a lot of youtube videos and apps that give ideas for low/no-cost strength training.

Simplistically you need to burn 3500 more calories than you consume to lose a pound. Lean muscle mass burns calories at a faster rate than fat body mass so weight training is generally recommended in at least part of the exercise regime

I'll try adding in these routines regularly.

I've read several times that weight loss is 80% diet, 20% working out. The most critical component in weight loss is portion control and coupled with cutting out processed and refined foods, you're well on your way!

I routinely add workouts from Oxygen into my routine. I do have a set of 10 and 15 pound dumbbells that I use, but you can do a lot of these exercises with soup cans, water bottles, etc.

Dips.....use a step in your home. Straighten your legs and push up/down with your arms at your sides. When this gets easy put one foot on top of another.
This is hard to do with a chair as the seat of the chair is too tall and a chair isn't steady enough.

I LOVE using kettlebells. Strength AND cardio in one workout.

Drinking at least 64oz of water always jump starts my weight loss. I also agree with weight training.

Can you get a tension band? They are really easy to pack, store and travel with.

The most critical component in weight loss is portion control and coupled with cutting out processed and refined foods, you're well on your way! I am eating very well. I am super careful with portion control (measure or weigh) and I read all labels for hidden ingredients. I've always had a healthy, normal weight throughout my life, excepting for the few years after having babies. I tend to gain weight very easily, especially when pregnant, and it's really hard for me to lose it.

I used to do the Sparkpeople workouts, and have tried Bikini Body Mommy (oh, how I hate that name!!) but would love something new to try.

I echo the others, add weights, or a resistance band workout. I walk enough a day (on average 12,000 steps, which is 5 miles for me) that I don't add on additional cardio. Instead I do the Upper Fix, Lower Fix and Dirty 30 workouts from the 21 Day Fix series 5 days per week (typically Monday through Friday). I always do Upper Fix twice a week and then alternate between doing the Dirty 30 and Lower Fix twice every other week. And I log all my food and water...that part is key for me!
Good Luck!!

Thanks everyone for the helpful suggestions. I'm definitely going to keep up with my healthy eating and water drinking habits, and add in some sort of weight training. I really don't like doing those kinds of workouts (because I'm a total suck and they're hard and I hate being sweaty) but right now I'm avoiding doing certain things because of the way I look, and I really need to make some changes so I can get back to being a person I feel comfortable with.

We do a quick 5 minute workout at work everyday. Start with 1 minute wall sit, 1 minute plank, 30 crunches, 10 push-ups and 15 squats. We up it as it gets easier, we don't get sweaty and we don't need equipment (well we have yoga mats because our flooring is gross!). Maybe your children would enjoy doing it with you (mine don't .

For me, it's diet. I go to bootcamp twice a week and run 15 miles. I also have core exercises that take me about 1/2 an hour a day. I still won't lose weight if I don't stick to my diet.

Eat less carbs and sugar. Avoid stuff like bread, pasta, rice and sweets. You don't have to be extreme with it but if you cut back for a while you should see your weight move down.
Greatist.com has a lot of body weight exercises, you can search there. And fitnessblender.com probably has body weight exercises too. They are a *great* website for exercise/weight training videos, all free.

I've hit a plateau and need to refocus. I will check out the websites you mentioned.

I just downloaded a Nike training app onto my phone. It was free and I just did a 30 minute workout that kicked my a$$. It requires Dumbbells, but again you could use soup cans or water bottle

Another voice for weight training. If you can schlep around a sleeping toddler, you can lift things that are heavy.

Stupid question about those who are saying weight training... do you mean exercising with weights (are they called free weights? things like dumbbells?) Or does body weight training count too? Also, I tried one of the Bikini Body Mommy workouts last night and I nearly died, so at this point reconsidering this entire plan.

Also, I tried one of the Bikini Body Mommy workouts last night and I nearly died, so at this point reconsidering this entire plan. I would consider it to include anything that's weight-bearing or more--so body weight, dumbbells, etc. Most of my weight training deals with barbells, kettlebells, and dumbbells, but we do a lot of bodyweight exercises as well (burpees, pushups, pullups, etc.). It will be hard at first. It will be. But you can do hard things. Look at all you've done with your education and your beautiful kids. You can do hard things. This will be hard for a while, and then it will get easier. Pinky swear.
