You have permission to give them generic brand paper towels for all their hygiene needs for the duration of the time they spend in your house. Absolutely no fluffy or decorative towels for inlaws like these. Too funny! OP, so sorry for you rude houseguest! I know it makes it even harder when they are family.

I'm not sure that allowing one's possessions and person to be treated like dirt makes one a "better" person. I don't think it's that that people are referring to the OP as a better person. I think it's that she hasn't killed her "houseguests" or her husband yet for his absolute lack of balls that she is considered a better person.

Wow! No way no how would they be coming back to my house. I'd evict them and tell DH if he didn't get things cleaned and fixed he'd be evicted as well.

Okay I will be honest I get upset when my house guests don't pick up after themselves but I am talking leaving drink cups out and dirty dishes. Now I feel like I have NOTHING to complain about.
I am sorry they did this to you and I am sorry DH doesn't see it!

Let the record show that even I am in agreement with the group. There's family, and then there's stupidity. Now that right there made me gasp and drop my jaw almost as much as the OP. In all the years I've seen your posts, you have never gone "against" family!

OP, I feel for you. I have had my SIL and her brood for an extended weekend every June. The brood (and their friends!) are great but my SIL has behaved so unbelievably bad that my dh said it was probably beat that she not come back. Big Facebook row followed by lots of drama and other bullshit. It would take me days to type it out and all of you would be picking your jaws up off your keyboards and phones and you would start a paypal account to send me to an all inclusive in Mexico. I still can even wrap my head around all that she has done... Anyway, wench invites you to spokane if they ever come back. <3 OP I feel bad for you and if it were my husband he would be getting an earful from me until he did something about getting them out of the house for the rest of the month But I have to add ... Wenchie you can't leave us hanging - we really need to hear your story too!

Wow! Are they offering to pay for their destruction? You might just have a strong contender in the "Worst houseguests of the Year".

Stop and take a deep breath and count to ten. But when you get to 8 punch them in the throat. See how they like surprises.

destruction! (sorry ran out of room!) DH's sister and her family (BIL and 2 dds) are here for the MONTH of July! The whole month!! Yippeee!!!! They stayed with us from the 1st (well 1:00 am on the 2nd is when they got in) until the 5th. We were away from the 5th to the 13th, and they were there waiting for us when we returned late yesterday! Yay! When we left on the 5th, we gave them a key ring with ONE KEY on it which locks the back door. They were asked to just lock the back door when they left. Same key for the door knob and the lock above it. But, they couldn't get it to work. So they went to our key rack and grabbed other keys and shoved them in and tried to lock the door and proceeded to break a key off in the door knob. they decided the best course of action was to leave my house unlocked for our entire vacation, but continued to come and go as they pleased (which wasn't part of the original plan. But before they left, they also broke my refrigerator door which will no longer close and so they left that ajar all week, with food in it, that sweltered in the 80 & 90 degree heat and humidity and my house smelled like a thousand dead corpses were in there when I returned. I love having houseguests!!! Holy crap! A month is way too long to have guest anyway let alone go through all of that. I am sorry you have to deal with all of that. Why on earth are they staying a month? Yikes!

Ha ha - love the gifs people are posting!
I can't believe their behavior - that is horrible. But as bad as they are, I think I would be even more annoyed at your husband to allow this. Does he expect you to clean up all the messes and fix all the problems? Unacceptable.

While your husband's sister & her family have chosen to mooch off you, I suggest that you plan a vacation (equal to the total number of days that they've squatted at your home) at their expense next month either at their house or a destination of your choosing. Gather estimates for the cost of a furnished/executive apartment or hotel, cleaning service, food, internet usage, printing fees, repairs, etc. incurred during their visit, show your husband, & communicate that you expect to be reimbursed. Only then will your husband realize the financial burden (since he's obviously got no problem with the physical, mental, & emotion toll & inevitable inconvenience) these freeloaders present. Plus, I've learned the only way to stop bad behavior from people who think the world revolves around them is for them to experience first-hand what it's like to be on the receiving end; they will be outraged that you would dare take advantage of them & likely never stay (&, if you're lucky, speak) with you again! Best wishes & enjoy your houseguest-free August...

How the heck do you break a fridge door!?? I was wondering about that too! I've had the handle come lose and had to tighten it back, but how does the door break?!
