It seems there is always something going on but I think the big one is a Wine and Balloon Festival. We have several Hot Rod shows, wine and art type of things, Old West Days, and a few weekends ago we had a street art festival - pastel drawings on the street - some of them were amazing. Forth of July is big a parade in old town - It really seems that almost every weekend there is something going on in one of three cities around here.

The North Dakota State Fair is held here, we have a Tomato Festival and the Hostfest (the world's biggest Scandinavian Festival) is held here in the fall. We have a Dicken's Festival in a small town about 30 miles from here held 3-4 weekends in November and December, a Governor's Cup Walleye Tournament not far away and lots of harvest festivals in towns around here.

Herring. Every year we have jazzfestival in my town in August. Which is completely random, this place has no particular roots in jazzmusic. I have absolutely no idea why we have a jazzfestival on the west-coast of Norway. But it gets bigger every year. One of the main attractions during the daytime of the festiva, is 'the worlds longest herringtable'. Which basically means they put up a long table through most of our parade street/main street, and they serve herring. In all shapes and forms. In tomatoesauce and onion, in sourcream sauce, grilled, boiled, dried, fermented, pickled... There are apparantly hundreds of types of herring being served. This town is built on herring though, back in the day it was our primary industry (until we found oil). So it makes a lot more sense than the jazzmusic. Also; Vikings. It's Norway... we have an annual Vikingfestival, I'm sure that doesn't surprise anyone

My town does an Apple Blossom Festival, one nearby does a Cherry Festival, another one didn't have a summer festival so 10 years ago they decided to have "Family Fun Days" twice a year. My hometown does a huge one, though. They have a nationally recognized Fiddle contest every year in June. A large festival has grown up around it. When I was a kid we used to play the licence plate game that week. we'd get a large percentage of plates, too.

My town's claim to fame is Mark Twain, so we have Twain on Main in the spring, Tom Sawyer Days Fourth of July, the Great River Steampunk Festival, and Folklife Festival in the Fall. The Tom Sawyer Days and Folklife are big deals and I think everybody who ever lived here comes back for those if they can.
