We are thinking of going on one of these tours. We're not typically "tour" people. We usually plan our own vacations. However, the tour we are looking at is one best left to the professionals.
Once I got on their web site, I realized that I would love to go on almost all of the tours they offer!
So I'm wondering if anyone has ever gone on one of the NGE tours, what you thought, whether it's worth the money, etc.
Also, did you go on one that was specifically a "photography" tour. The one we are looking at is in three different formats with little price variation so I think the photography one might be the better deal.
Thanks!

Yowee! I better start saving my money. I'd really like to go to Machu Picchu or Patagonia but at $5800 PP without air, I'd better start playing the lottery.

My parents did one from sf to Alaska. It was a small ship full of scientists - they LOVED it and still rave about it. I don't think it was a photography one though.

We're thinking of doing Winter Wildlife in Yellowstone. linkI have been to Morocco before, and that's actually a place I wish I did in a tour group for many reasons. It is beautiful and exotic, but traveling as an American woman was a challenge. (Being there during Ramadan didn't make it any easier. Oh, and it was August/September and about 115 degrees.) I hope to go back again in milder weather and with a guide.

I've looked at their catalog before and thought their trips looked awesome. As much as I would love to do one, I don't think they will ever be in our budget.
I don't know if I would do one for Yellowstone though. I would personally choose one that is more "exotic" or I felt I really needed a tour.

I watched a Ntl Geo special on the winter wildlife at Yellowstone and I would never plan it on my own. They have those special snow coaches that the animals come up to and the guides know the terrain. They know how to drive in the snow. Etc. I can plan most of our trips and I've traveled alone in Europe and Africa. For some reason, this one just seems like a nice trip to have "done" for me.

I would do a snow coach tour too. I would just book it on my own though. For me personally, I can't imagine spending $7200 + airfare for two adults for six days in Yellowstone.

For some reason I get their nice thick catalogue in the mail that has all of these expeditions in gorgeous detail. I would LOVE to do on any one of them-but their prices are a bit out of my budget. At least right now. Maybe in the future. I dream of going on the one that goes to see the Mountain Gorillas in Rwanda, or an African Safari, or anything that is exotic and difficult to do on my own. Europe is easy to do on my own. Maybe one day. Yeah, it's on the bucket list.

Birukitty--I was looking at that last night. I would love to do the safari with the gorilla add-on. That looks like an incredible trip.

I haven't but my mom did their trip to the Galapagos Islands and absolutely loved it. She also did one to Mt. Everest, which I'm pretty sure was a NatGeo trip too.
