Oh, sure...vote for Donald Trump. He'd have NO corporate interests to protect at all. I wonder who would have more corporate interests...Donald Trump or Hillary being in bed with Wall Street and big banks.

Hmm name one Republican running for President who is not in at least one billionaire's back pocket.
Let me rephrase that. Name one of the front runners who is not in the pocket of at least one billionaire.
Does anyone really believe these billionaire's are forking out all this money to get their guy elected and not expect a return on their investment?
And the Republican candidates who are not backed by some billionaire are despartly looking for one. Lack of money will ultimately thin the herd.
In Trump's case it will be his mouth that will thin him from the herd.
Tit for tat? Maybe or another sign that politics in this country is only a step or two above third world politics.
Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren are right. Big money needs to get out of politics. Because no one politican has a bed big enough to hold all they are beholden to for favors and money that got them elected.

His long career in the military sure gives him the right to decide what a military hero is LOL :)He said he had flat feet & couldn't join. There were lots of people who had medical stuff but could do something else in the military. He could have enlisted & been in an office. My husband enlisted in the Marines after he graduated high school in 1966.

Please don't vote for him. (I said please). I can't say WE as I can't speak for everyone else in my country, however I would rather not hear him speak for your people for the next 4 years as President. I would rather not hear him speak, at all. Ever again.

The Republican party has already imploded, Donald is just putting the final nail in the coffin. Even my elderly retired military lifelong Republican father has left the party. He left it when the Tea Party lunatics took over the Republican party. Ironic and kind of sad that the legends of the party, like Ronald Reagan, would have a difficult time now. In all honesty, the Democrat party isn't what it once was either.
I cannot fathom the Tea Party, Trump, or religion based or moral based politics. That is what the Republican party has become. But I also cannot support the leftist agenda of the Democrats. I know there are many Republicans just like me, and I'd venture a guess that there are as many Democrats who don't like being dragged so far to the left, but are equally disturbed by the Republicans.
Frankly, there's so little middle anymore...which is why we need a viable third party.
so much for Washington, Jefferson, John Jay, John Adams, John Q Adams, Joseph Story, Benjamin Rush, Patrick Henry, etc etc etc.

The difference between the far left and far right is the left wants to find ways to help the middle class and poor succeed. The far right find ways to hurt and just down right insult the middle class and poor.
All you have to do is look what Scott Walker is doing with drug testing in WI. But now that I think about it. I think we should require all active politicians be subject to random drug testing. After all their salary and expenses are paid from tax payer dollars and they don't seem to be doing the people's business these days. Maybe that is because they are on drugs. We should check. You know just in case. such BS! Just about everything done in this admin has been to hurt the middle class and poor.
next you'll be posting how the left led the way to civil rights...

I live in small, rural, consecutive USA and I can answer this He's honest he's willing to say the hard truths he has plans to fix things he's not Obama or hillary or a socialist he'd turn this country around they agree with him on immigration and border control I don't know whether you are speaking for yourself or for others in your town, but He's not honest: We know he's had affairs. If you cheat on your wife, why wouldn't you cheat on your business partners or your country (Rick Perry said this) He's willing to say the hard truths: HA HA. The are his harsh OPINIONS. He has plans to fix things: He's going to make Mexico build a wall. He says he will make them pay for this. He has not told us how he's going to do this. He is also going to "Sell junk to Saudi Arabia, since the goods we send them are blown up anyway," "Stop Iran from getting nuclear weapons" with no plan on how to accomplish that and, may favorite (for which he actually does have a plan, but not sure what it will fix) "Don’t appoint a secretary of state who rides bikes and breaks his leg" He's not Obama, Hillary or a Socialist. Yes. This is true. He'd turn this country around: By selling junk to Saudi Arabia? By criticizing our vets? Alienating a large subsection of the US? They agree with him on immigration and border control: Sadly, yes. However, just because something isn't working, doesn't mean there aren't other methods of action rather than stopping all immigration and building giant walls. Bill Clinton yes, Trump did tell how... other methods? sure, just let 'em in. Tell border patrol to back off and tell ICE to turn'em loose here (not to deport). and just fly 'em in at the taxpayers expense...

Like I said skypea you think you are right and I know I'm right. As to civil rights. I think you need to go back and read what happened during that period.

Yeah, so's my daughter, who is most excited about voting in her first election this November. She's 18; I expect her to be easily influenced by big obnoxious blowhards who denigrate those who don't deserve to be. It seems that many of the younger voters out there are quite enamored of this asshole. I'm thankful DH and I will cancel her, and at least one of her friend's, vote.

The left did lead the way to civil rights. (The Republicans were progressive in their day, if that's where you're headed.)

He's nothing but a self-serving gas bag. The media needs to stop paying attention to him. Attention is what he lives for. This is why Huffington Post is now only covering his "campaign" in the entertainment section, NOT the political section.

Can you picture Trump at a G8 summit ....not me No...but a one-on-one meeting with Putin? That would be epic. Can he have that one-on-one with Putin while just being a candidate? I'd love to see it!

I think Trump is going to implode at some point... However. . . IMO the reason why he's number one in the polls is that the base is sick of the consummate politicians who say one thing during the election and do something entirely different once it's over. They see Trump as a non-politician who's a man of action, who would shake up the political establishment in Washington. I think a lot of politicians actually think they can live up to their promises and then reality hits when they take office. No one person can change things in the juggernaut that is known as Washington DC. That is what President Obama found out and if Trump should become president he would find out the same thing. If politicians were honest they would own up to this in the beginning. But a lot of Americans don't want to hear that even if it is true. And then when the changes don't come they blame the politician. When in reality the American people are just as much to blame as the politician for the lack of change. Good point.

A lot of the younger set has become an integral part of the whole social media and worse, reality tv, influence; sound bites and memes are their go to for political education.
We have of course directed her to any and all potential candidates' sites (those ending in "org" versus "com") to understand what each candidate stands for the respective candidates' platforms.

I find it very unsettling that his message apparently appeals to so many people because I don't think it speaks very well of our society as a whole. An acquaintance says that his appeal is that he speaks from and to the heart of the American people which disturbs me even more. He reaches out to the lowest common denominator - the xenophobes, racists, those festering with resentment, huge chips on their shoulders and bitter from perceived slights with no perception or comprehension of their own sense of entitlement and privilege. It's equal parts pathetic and maddening that there are enough of those persons out there to give him any showing in the polls whatsover. Perfectly put... I believe we are seeing "the southern" strategy come to fruition and it's scary. If you want to know what it would be like if Donald Trump became president, just look at Maine and our lovely Govenor LePage, people here said the same things about him for their reason to vote for him that people say about Trump. Most of those people are now realizing why the CEO of a company makes a very poor political leader. You don't always get things your way, you have to compromise more often than not and you can't just change the rules to suit your current mood/whim/desire/ or in Lepage's case desire for revenge. You don't get to leverage your position in the State(Country) as a way to get people to do what you want. Donald Trump would be the worst thing that has ever happened to our country.

Well he's certainly not that bothered who he gains support from that's for sure. This isn't the first time it seems that he's re-tweeted tweets that haven't been checked out. LINKThe sad part of this is, the reports that are shared on news coverage around the world of his campaign journey shows thousands of people cheering him and supporting him at his meetings. It really doesn't show US politics in a very good light at all. Most people in the Western world knows what an idiot he is and he's running for President of the United States

Democrats love the middle class sooooooo much! That's why all their policies of the last 6 years have lowered their incomes, destroyed their jobs, decimated their healthcare, and made it harder to get by. No dear, the liberals love poor people, that's why they keep making more of them! Have you seen the welfare numbers lately? Obama wears that like a badge of honor. "Look how many people are on food stamps and obmacare (Medicaid)! Look how generous and benevolent the government is! Big bad republicans want to take that away and make you get JOBS! Oh, the HORROR! Quick, vote for us so we can keep giving you food stamps and health care!" How ignorant can one be, to really think that republicans only want to "hurt and insult the middle class?" The middle class are the ones who vote. That's just not a statement that has an ounce of truth. But then again, liberals hate truth, don't you? You completely ignore all basic science when it comes to economics and human nature. You believe that their is an unlimited supply of free money, we just have to take it away from some mythical evil rich white men, and they will continue to do what they do and make more money for us to take by force, and somehow that will magically make the middle class prosperous! The only science you believe in is junk climate change science, which is being used to further decimate middle class jobs. You do not believe that we humans are capable of self governing yet you support an eternal political class made up of humans who only wish is to rule by hook or by crook. (And I'm including many republicans in that last statement too). You pretend to abhor slaverly, all while helping to secure the shackles on your neighbors legs. Who cares if we are all slaves, as long as the government takes care of us!

By all means, please supply some legitimate academic sources and I'll be happy to read them. Somehow they never came up when I was earning my degree in American history from an honored but notoriously left-leaning university.
