I'm really confused (and I do think this was mentioned upthread)--that kit looks almost exactly like A Beautiful Mess' Happy Mail kit.
This blurb in the description made me lol: "each kit comes in an adorable portable bag for on-the-go card making!" On the go...card making? What, sign, stick in envelope, and put in mail box? WTH is creative about this kit? It's a monthly pre-made card kit. ABM sells it that way, why doesn't SC just copy the Happy Mail name just like they copied the concept?

It seems that the new stationery kit is in direct competition with the ABM Happy Mail Kit, which is cuter AND and cheaper. Seems like a strange direction for SC to go especially since they will lose the actual card makers this way. I'm super bummed.

I don't get the pencil? Am I supposed to be sending that to someone? I don't write correspondence in pencil. What card could or would you attach the deer to? Or the stickers? Do you dump the confetti in the "Glad you were born" card so that the recipient can clean that mess up? This "kit" is stupid. The whole "Crafters are too busy to make cards" is stupid.

Agree, a pencil? I don't even own a pencil sharpener. (btw, loved your comment on the Welcome Caitlin thread, I was waiting for someone to say something like that!)

I'm sorry...and I hate to say this because I'm sure someone is really proud of their design skills, but those cards are horrific. I wouldn't even pay 50¢ for one of them at the dollar store where I can get premade cards 2 for $1. Definitely a very sad day for card makers. Yeah, they look like something you *would* get at the dollar store. If I want a store-bought card, there are some fabulous cards available in bookstores and stationery stores here.

I am really trying to find something about this card kit situation that doesn't annoy me. I do see the value in included a couple of decorative card bases for that "semi-homemade" look, but a whole kit? "Slap a sticker on it and make it your own" holds little value for me. In the end, I have amassed quite a collection of card making tools and there is a Paper Source right down the street.
Now, about transferring that rewards status to my PL kit....

stahija now I'm quoting Wayne's World with your pencil and pencil sharpener comment. lol. "A gunrack? I don't even own A gun, let alone many guns which would necessitate an entire rack!"

I wasn't happy with all the changes, but I was going to wait it out until December. Instead I just canceled my card sub. That kit is a joke. That sucks stahija

I feel awful for the Card Kit subbers. What a load of BS OMG!!! I can get a better set of premade cards at Stop and Shop (seriously I was just there the other day looking for a card for someone who was not going to receive/appreciate one of my handmade creations but I digress). Those poor card subbers. I would be EMBARRASSED to give any of these to anyone.

My week.long silence has been broken. And since my comments keep "disappearing" out on the SC message boards, I will copy it here:
This is my first post here, but I've been lurking for awhile. I had to tell you, abragg79, that when I saw this post over at SC...you were basically my hero. LOVE IT.
The changes and craziness at SC makes me so sad...I subbed to the PL kit from December 2015 to June, but cancelled after all this crap started happening. I'm glad you all are migrating over here!!

Hello. I am catseatcheese at SC. I do not post often. I have been a member getting PL and the scrapbook kit for a little over a year. Although I do not post often I read the boards several times per week. I wanted to tell you that I also get Paper Camelia kits and they are about the same cost (or less...can´t remember exactly) and they are FULL of products. They have some exclusive items. I am trying to decide if I stick it out until December with SC. Sort of waiting to see. I am not feeling excited anymore about getting the happy mail and instead I feel like I am being taken for a long taxi ride across the street and charged like I went 30 miles.

Just copying and pasting what I wrote over there...
On reading the description, it looks like you get 'at least one' (which means, one) speciality item per month - so EITHER a pencil, or twine, or balloons, or a mini ink pad, OR a stamp. Not all of them. I think that picture is potentially misleading.

I can't even believe some SC members are actually posting positive feedback. Are you kidding me? Those cards are the ones you only lift up halfway and immediately shove back in their slot. That SC Kool-Aid must be thebomb.com That pencil. Uhh...we got three for free a few months ago. Another yay! for abr79 posting that on the SC boards.

I don't understand this whole mess. If I was Elsie and Emma, I'd be mad that SC seemed to be using my idea for a kit... and why the abrupt change for SC? It just all smacks of desperation.

That new girl posted: Thank you to all of the sweet "welcomes!" I'm very excited to be a part of the Studio Calico team and can't wait to chat with you more about the awesome things Studio Calico is doing. Doesn't she know that anything you say over there is against the new TOU? And I just can't wait to see what she thinks is awesome!

A question for you guys. If I have an issue with an AE product and contact customer service, do you think Ali even knows about the issue/resolution? Is she (blind) copied on the emails?
From my interactions with her, I can't believe she would be happy with the way things are handled (the delays on the album issues above, for instance).

I am just glad I don't get the card kit, there is nothing left to do and the pencil irritates me. You can't even send a pencil easily, it requires more postage and would the person receiving said pencil even bother to read it. Of course I would probably be even more pissed to get a balloon. I can't wait to see what changes they plan for the main and the rewards . It looks like the subbers are leaving in hoards, was that the business plan? ?

If I were you guys, I would post something on her Message board. She definitely reads there. Not anything nasty, just something to the fact that you hope your album arrives in time. I bet she'll see it and respond. She is really good at appeasing her customers. There was a quality issue with her PL cards in the "Go" kit and she sent an email about it before we even received them. Then she sent all subbers a free pdf of the cards. She wants us to be happy. I would say something for sure!

And now there's a thread on if anyone ever use 12x12 paper anymore. Guess they are going to swap for 8.5x11 or 9x12 paper in the SB kit next.. Sorry. I should stop being paranoid and give this topic a rest. That change is in the works, I guarantee it. There was a survey after the Odyssey debacle asking if we preferred 12x12 or 8-1/2x11.

I'd actually be ok with 9x12 since I don't scrap 12x12 but I'm guessing the overall quality/size of the kit wouldn't get any better so we'd be progressively getting less and less for our money.

I don't typically scrap with 12x12 either (nor do I sub to a kit), but I always like using the extra pieces from a 12x12 to use on cards or in PL. I agree they'll probably shrink the size and the quality will also be lacking too.

Oh, yes. I'm sure PP bases will shrink in the SB. And I bet you anything that PL cards will disappear for "specialty" cards instead. .
I don't scrap 12x12, either, but I always start with a 12x12 sheet and cut it down and scraps are used for cards or embellishments.
I said it yesterday: The writing is on the wall. Get out while you can. Come January when they have suckers locked in, they'll probably drop some of those changes as well. It's not a good thing that's happening over there. Unless decreasing customer count is part of their ultimate plan.

Wow, I didn't even notice that the bundles of paper in the new collections were not 12x12. SC does like to jump on the NEW bandwagon, not looking good for my 12x12 love.
