I looked at the SC web site again. I knew I shouldn’t have.
It’s their overuse of pretentious hipster-blogger social media jargon that irks me.
“Wink Wink *pairs* saturated citrine tones with neutral *pairings* for a surprising twist, bringing to mind a comfortable, do-it-yourself feel sure to evoke a childhood sense of wonderment.”

I probably had more money to spend on scrap stuff in my 20s than I do now with a mortgage and 2 kids! I also think that they are desperately trying to be "cool" and "hip" (is that a cool word? I'm 35, I have no idea) and trendy. As a person who is tragically unhip, I am well-acquainted with what TRYING TOO HARD!!!! looks like. To me, SC's forays into terminal coolness are reminiscent of being privy to a meeting amongst a bunch of record executives in the early 1990s, in which someone concluded that, since "kids these days" like rap, they'll LOVE Vanilla Ice. Because that is the only explanation for the thought process that would lead to the production of a "totes magotes" sticker.

I signed up for a three month Cocoa Daisy membership. I just got the first kit and LOVE it! It's exactly the kind of thing I want in a kit: lots of stuff, variety, and fast shipping. They even sent a stamp as a welcome gift. Glad to hear another positive review. Stepping away from SC has made me realise all the great options out there which offer a lot more product for the same price, and a nice range of manufacturers etc. I just went and checked out Cocoa Daisy. Wow!! Way more product for the price!!

But that was 5th grade. After that misguided year of music, I started being myself. Which meant I was either ahead of the times or tragically behind the times (I started dressing gypsy bo-ho in HS long before it was trendy...or long after it was trendy in the 60's/70's...however you want to look at it). But aside from that, I completely agree with you. And I think that's probably why there are so many younger employees lately. To help figure out what's hip these days.

On a positive note, my 1st Citrus Twist kit was waiting at home for me last night. Best thing about the whole process - absolutely no drama I'm very pleased with the kit contents - neutral card stock, 6 pieces of PP and a nice selection of embellishments including a stamp, thickers, the Wonder ephemera pack, puffy stickers, little sticker sheets and different acrylic shapes. I also got a little welcome gift which I thought was a nice touch - a little bag with a stamp set, some wood veneer and other small items. I think all the CT kits were completely sold out this month, so Im guessing I wasn't the only SC customer trying out their kits I signed up for a three month Cocoa Daisy membership. I just got the first kit and LOVE it! It's exactly the kind of thing I want in a kit: lots of stuff, variety, and fast shipping. They even sent a stamp as a welcome gift. Cocoa Daisy is on my list of kits to try next year. I've been following their sneaks and reveals and have been consistently liking what I'm seeing. Thanks for the good info!

The nerds got made fun of. And it was one of those things where it must be cool if the cool kids are doing it but in reality-it looked f*cking ridiculous. Like fan girl sc stamp. A totally stupid use for a stamp, yet people will buy it because all the cool girls on IG are using it.

I did see on Instagram somewhere where the SC main offices have a 'VIP Lounge'.

And I realize that that is what SC is - the cool kids club. I was never a cool kid because I couldn't conform to their "rules"...now, at 35, I'm still the same way. I say what I mean, what I feel and I don't hide behind passive-aggressive giggly comments. It's also why I will never fit in with the PTO at my son's school. I just can't do it.

And surprisingly Samantha did respond when I tagged her on the handbook thread. Why she couldn't just answer the question to start with is beyond me and still irritates me. But now I have to be on my best behavior until the end of the year to get my last handbook to finish 2015. Wish I weren't so OCD that they all need to be the same style! Don't they sell their handbooks at other vendors? I don't think the new 6 ring ones are being sold anywhere else... Or at least not that I have found.

They're all digital: FB, IG, Snapchat. They're not interested in the least in printing their photos and journaling on cards. Even the artsy ones who like photography have little to no interest in scrapping their everyday life. The younger, "hipper" style also targets the 30-50 yr old scrappers who's kids are now approaching the teens and college years. It seems like more and more of the DT are either very tech savvy or their children are a little older.

I have some on a shelf. See.. That is so nice of you . Just like the old SC we all used to know and love. I just need a *new* color. Wasn't joking about that whole OCD thing... I have some of the old ones I haven't used but wanted this year to all be the matching fabric covered 6 ring style (stupid... I know). I did one of each color from the first release and now am waiting for a third, because 2 of one color and 1 of another would be crazy (and I say that tongue in cheek to myself because the fact that it would bother me IS crazy).

No disrespect, but I'm kinda skeptical about trend reports coming straight from Bowling Green, KY. There's enough of a difference between East Coast, West Coast, but you'll see some overlap. Some of the things and phrases SC thinks are popular would never fly in most big cities. Frankly, "totes magotes" would be an automatic conversation killer with me. Even funnier my autocorrect wanted to say "totes maggots" instead. LOL

I'd be really interested in seeing how things all worked out if SC did target 18-20's. I get a lot of inspiration from Juli and Tracey since I'm 22 and no kids or any of that. But I can't imagine any of my friends considering a scrapbooking subscription. I mean they like to look at my album but that's about it lol I hope you weren't offended by my categorizing of the 20-something's! I recalled you were young from posts over at SC but you are clearly mature and wise beyond your years after your ability to manage that feedback thread you started over there. Feel free to call out those of us who are in the 40 year old ~give or take a few years~ crowd in return

Younger employees are cheaper, too. Maybe they really want to target the younger set, which wouldn't surprise me; adapt or die, so to speak. Although where I live (one of the 3 largest cities in the U.S.) new graduates are swimming in debt - between school loans, rent and all else, they barely have enough for food, esp since they're just at starter jobs w/c are barely above minimum wage. It's the old biddies like me who have the money, but we also know what's what. High-maintenance, in other words, kwim?

But now I am getting worried they might sell out if a bunch more people bail after seeing the Sc sneaks. BTW- am I crazy or didn't you used to show up as Regina phalange here? Best name ever, ha ha
