I've never heard of the guest of honor taking home the prize unless she actually won the game. It's always been the winner takes home the prize from my experience. Same for me. Would the winners at birthday party games leave the prize to the guest of honor too?

I've never heard of that before. The winner keeps the prize.

The person that won the prize. Usually prizes are kitchen towel or dishcloth, small hand lotion, candy.

I went to one shower years ago where all the prizes were baby related and they were given to the mom to be. I thought it was stupid. But then I hate shower games so it was just one more reason for me to fake 'stomach problems' during the games causing me to frequent the bathroom and miss playing along

I have never heard of that before. Not once in my life have I attended, thrown, or been the bride/mother-to-be at a shower where the prizes were given to the bride/mother to be. I'm guessing it's regional. When I've hosted showers, I either skipped games or I agonized over prizes that the guests would actually like to win. I think I would have been a little bummed if everyone left their prizes behind.

Around here I've never heard of the prizes being given to the honoree.
When I was really young I was allowed to attend a shower at the home of one of the richest women in town. I don't remember much about it but I won a prize. It was a set of 3 towels. His. Hers. Guest.
I felt so excited and those towels were always in our closet although rarely hung out(!)...
By the time I was married they were old and stiff.

The winners keep the prizes at every shower of any kind I've ever gone to, and I've suffered through a LOT of them! (And I never win either!)

I have never been to a shower with games, but I would assume that the winner keeps the prize.
I'm hostessing my sister's bridal shower this weekend and she specifically requested no games. I'm relieved!

Another one who has never heard of giving the guest of honor the winners' prizes. That just sounds nuts to me. If I won a game and the prize was something like a pacifier, I would probably just sit there stupidly trying to figure out what I was supposed to do with it. LOL
I went to a baby shower last month and I won a prize, but for the life of me, now I can't remember what the prize even was. Damn runaway brain cells.

I grew up in Northeast Florida, got married in the 80's and the prizes were given to the bride or mother to be. However, every shower I've attended or hosted since I've lived in VA have gone to the winners.

I totally misinterpreted the OP title. I thought this was about judging the quality of the prizes. lol No I've never heard of the honoree receiving the prize. Except maybe from the peas.

I have been to both types of showers. It is pretty clear when you see the prizes who is supposed to get them. The last shower I attended had about 15 big candy bars as prizes. The answers to the game related to babies and candy bars. No one gave the candy to the mom.
