Quesadillas and salad. Just me for dinner tonight and that's as much as I cook on a Friday.

DH is working on installing toe kicks in the kitchen and one of the kids had wisdom teeth removed this am. So, it's easy night. We have Chinese leftovers as well as taco meat. We're good to go.

Popcorn and several alcoholic beverages. Don't judge me, it's been that kind of week.

Chili rice and I am already eating it now (4:00 pm) because once again I skipped lunch so then I was starving by mid-afternoon. I'm going to be 62 next month and you'd think I would have learned by now. I'll steam some vegetables later on when I get hungry again at 8:00 or 9:00 o'clock.

Cake would be so much better at 8:00 or 9:00 o'clock than stupid ol' steamed vegetables. That's another thing you should have learned by now.

Well, our baseball game didn't go nearly as late as expected-took just over an hour to win 20-3 (for the record, we ere not intentionally running up the score, the other team was just that bad). We picked up broasted chicken, potatoes, Cole slaw, and cod. We will take the leftover chicken to eat between games tomorrow. Parking at this field is brutal and we don't want to leave in between and lose our spot!

I don't think I've eaten a full serving of vegetables in three days. Lots of little bits of vegetables mixed into a burrito bowl, pasta salad, etc., but not an actual recognizable veggie on my plate. This is what happens when the child is gone. I think I'd better just eat the darned steamed vegetables. Followed by cake, of course.

Had to take my mother to get a new light for her kitchen and then to buy her groceries so I was late getting home. A co-worker gave me tomatoes from her garden so I had a diced tomato with cottage cheese with dill weed and crackers.

Cake. Yes, please. And lucyg, my birthday is Aug. 20, what day is yours? I will say that you are my "elder." I had a free pizza coupon for Barros. I ordered a calzone with it for us to share, and $8.24 later, dinner is done. Lisa

Besides, they're called "dietary guidelines" or "recommended daily servings" of the food groups. They're not laws, or commands, or mandates. So, basically, they're suggestions. If all of your friends suggested you jump off a cliff, would you? Next time lucyg, eat the cake first and if you're still hungry, either eat the vegetables or have more cake!

gottapeanowakathyTrixie BenderYou guys are cracking me up. I'm afraid I already have a lifetime history of putting cake before veggies. Not that I don't like veggies ... I do ... but "somehow" cake has wormed its way to the front of the line. Self-discipline is not my strong suit. GPN, it's one day before yours, and I am very much your elder.

lucyg, I am not a whole lot younger than you. Although most people do guess my age wrong. Cake? Did some say ice cream? Yes, please. Where's the party? This is such a fun thread every day, and it's own special little place in pealand. The meal ideas are nice, too. Lisa

Me too! Cold chocolate cake My mom and I were at Target today...I snuck in a box of Little Debbie Swiss Rolls while her stuff of being rung up. She looked at me like I lost my mind and explained to her very nicely that I grew up with this hippie granola chick for a mom who never let me eat that kind of stuff and now they are my guilty little secret. She rolled her eyes and told me I should have called CPS. (all that to say that I sort of have cake. )
