I took mine off one day and put it somewhere safe as my young daughter liked to "borrow" it.
Of course, I forgot where I put it.
After a year and a half, I finally found an almost exact copy of my antique ring, so I bought it.
One week later, i found my original ring hidden in the medicine cabinet. It was missing for a bloody year and a half!
The upside is that neither ring was super expensive and I like the replacement a bit better. And now I've got a back up!

A friend lost her diamond tennis bracelet. A few years later she pulled out her umbrella, opened it over her head and her bracelet dropped out. I love this story. I once lost a bracelet that I was particularly fond of. We filed an insurance claim and received the money. Then one day I needed to feed the chickens and put on a scruffy old coat that I keep for the purpose, which hangs in the utility room. I put my hand in the pocket, and guess what? Then it all came flooding back to me. I had taken it off on one particular occasion as the chickens tend to peck at shiny things and had popped it in the pocket instead of leaving it in the usual place. i let the insurance company know and they were fine about it. I also once lost some car keys, something that I would never normally do as I am super obsessive. We searched high and low and in the end had to have another set cut at great expense. Then a friend asked if she could borrow my son's pushchair (stroller), which he had grown too old for, as it was light weight and they were going on holiday. When I opened it to give it a a bit of a spruce up, guess what? There they were. Am glad the OP found her ring. :-)

I'm very happy for you! My engagement, wedding and eternity rings were stolen in a break-in when we were on holiday. With the insurance money, I bought two beautiful diamond rings from Costco. The next time we went on holiday, I hid them in a very safe place in the house. Needless to say, I forgot where that was. It was 20 months later before I found them again! Next time I do that, I'm going to send myself an email stating where the hiding place is! dh hid our extra camera at home before we visited family. We came back and he had no idea where it was. He could have sworn he had emsiled himself the location bit he had forgotten to do that too. I want to Say a couple of weeks went by before he found it in his bed hidden under a pillow . I can't remember if it was because he only sleeps on one side of his bed, or if it was because he was sleeping next to our toddler since i was really pregnant at the time and was sleeping in my own bed. But I found it hilarious that he couldn't find it in such an obvious place , like you'd think he would have found that right away when he went to sleep and that's why he didn't email himself the location.

Yay! So glad you found it! DH lost his wedding ring for about 6 months and we found it when we were moving out after we sold that house. It was under the refrigerator! The only thing we can figure is that he had left it on the dresser or bathroom counter or something and one of the cats decided it was a new toy. when we were first married, living in a rental where the kick guards were never put up on the cabinets in the kitchen, One of our cats managed to swipe my wedding band under the cabinets. NEVER TO BE SEEN again. That was 22 years ago. We have since replaced it, but I still wonder if its still under that cabinet...

Isn't that the best feeling?? ![:)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/MNrJDkDuSwqIMVw33MdD.jpg) I have two lost/found stories: #1: My husband blew me away in 2008 when he took our then 14 yr old daughter shopping for my bday present. I had told her I would love a nice crucifix necklace. They went to a locally owned jewelry store and bought me a cross with a diamond and Ravens (football) earrings. I was shocked. And I cherished them because this was way out of the norm for him. One day, I went to check my earrings and realized one was no longer in my ear. It's small thing and I knew finding it would be a big long shot as I had been a lot of places since the time I remember feeling it in my ear. I was heart broken. Some 6+ months later, I was pulling laundry out of the washer (big deep super duper capacity tub, practically have to crawl in to reach in the bottom). I saw something odd at the bottom. I reached down and was shocked when I picked it up only to realize it was the missing earring!!! My guess is that it had been pulled off and in a shirt at some point and then landed in the washer where I never noticed it until that day. #2: Back in the late 60's, my FIL was doing some work in their farm fields. At some point, he lost his wedding ring. Not sure of the exact details. In the mid-80's, my now-husband was doing some work in the same fields and saw something in the dirt. He stopped to check it out and found the missing wedding ring. When we married in 1990, my in-laws gave him the ring to use for our wedding. It doesn't fit well, but he can't wear it much because he works in construction and its dangerous. We know this because he tried to wear it for a while after our wedding and nearly lost his finger when it caught on the door handle of a piece of heavy equipment. It now hangs from the ceiling fan pulls in our kitchen along with his high school ring. I know, that's weird but that's where he put them and they've stayed there for the last 20+ years, LOL. We know where they are though!

That's wonderful! So happy for you that you found it. Any chance you could help me find my set of keys that mysteriously disappeared 5 years ago? ![;)](//storage.proboards.com/5645536/images/Q_m8lDOvc_3Le3r1GKdf.jpg) We were getting ready to go on a trip and I had them in my hand walking from our motorhome in the driveway to our house. I only went through the garage into the kitchen and back out to the motorhome. We left for our trip a few minutes later (I did not take my keys with me) and never saw the keys again.

What a relief! I have had two similar experiences. In college, I dropped a pen (a nice pen) in my sorority house. I knew exactly where I dropped it but never found it. Two years later, after that room was cleaned many, many times, we were moving the couch I was sitting on that day and the pen fell out. More recently, I took DD's iPod away in the middle of the night and set it on the dresser by my bed. The next day, it was gone. We searched and searched and searched. It was at least a year before we found it wedged between my dresser and the bed.

Dh once lost the keys to his step mom's car right as we were about to leave his mom's family farm, a 3 hour drive away. Step mom had offered me her spare but i didn't want to lose it so we practicality turned the farm house upside-down looking for it. I was saying if had to have fallen under a chair that dh sat in but no keys. Finally dh's step dad picked up the recliner chair and shook it and the keys fell out! It wouldn't have been so bad had we not made plans to see dh grandma that day for lunch and it wad the day before we were flying home. I guess the keys fell on a small metal bar in the chair, which wad like a 1 in a 100 kind of thing
