Sending good thoughts. Glad you had a nice visit with brother & friends.
My uncle went the surgery route and it worked for 30 years. He died in his late 70s, last year. His cancer was also asbestos exposure related, so were it not for that, it likely wouldn't have reoccurred. So I think you're wise to choose this option.

My mil had 1/3 of her lung removed years ago for something other than cancer and she is close to 90 and thriving. She coughs, but we'll take it, cause she's completely independent and doing great.
As for your retreat, I cannot emphasize how important it is to take time off from your illness. Mindset plays a huge role in your daily life when you're ill. You can't be fine, but you can focus on making the best w/what you're given. Managing your energy is doable. So glad that you're letting them grab the lesion. The best cancerous lesions are the ones on a petri dish while you're enjoying life elsewhere. My thoughts are w/you. Keep doing retreats and fun things. That is what gives you the boost you need to fight.

I am so glad you were able to have good, quality time with those who love you.
Your "love bank" is overflowing...and there's no better time than now...as you start this next chapter of fight.
I'm afraid cancer knows not what it's dealing with when it chose Virginia.

I'm glad you had a chance to recharge out in a beautiful setting.
You've made a good choice, going the surgery route. It's what I would do in the same situation.
Wishing you all the luck in the universe!!

Just read your original post and follow ups! I'm so sorry Virgina! I haven't been on here much since the switch over. I know you're a tough cookie though with the best odds of any to beat all this shit and keep going! You don't make it through a couple decades being a military wife and not be! That I DO know! wish you the best of luck pulling through all this crap and getting on with living life!

I'm so glad you were able to have a great week and a fun retreat in the woods in the midst of the big ugly cancer thing.
Best of luck with the surgery, Virginia.

Thank you for the update, I was wondering how you were doing. It sounds like you had a great week and really enjoyed your crafting retreat with your friends. I am glad the doctors were able to give you enough information that you felt comfortable making a decision that you will be happy with.

Sending lots and lots of good thoughts your way, Virginia! I don't know if I missed this – but is there chemotherapy for adrenal cancer? ( I know for my brothers cancer there is not – they just have to keep looking and attack it where it pops up… ) Nope. Conventional chemotherapy doesn't work for adrenal corticol carcinoma. There is one drug, mitotane, that does help and I'm going to start that after my lung surgery. The best treatment is removal/destruction of lesions and mitotane.

I was just thinking about you and wondering if there had been any updates while I was away (all last week). I'm glad to hear that you got away for awhile, and glad you got to see your brother and family. You said "our" birthday weekend -- are you twins? . No. He is four years younger than me and our birthdays are only two days apart. I was Friday, he was Sunday. He turned 40 so we had fun giving him a hard time about it.

SO happy the PET scan only showed those two. Have they biopsied the one in your liver?? Praying The liver lesion was too small to biopsy. That made radiation even less appealing to me because then we wouldn't have pathology on either spot. Deep down I'm still hoping that the spots aren't mets but intellectually I know they probably are. I need to know for sure.
