Update: Well, I went ahead & did it!
So far, so good!
Mary K
OP: What do you think?
My update is scheduled in a couple of hours.
I'm on 8 currently. Don't really care for it.
Should I go ahead with the upgrade?

I'm really pleased I decided to do the upgrade as soon as it was available to me. It took about an hour, was painless and left my desktop almost as it was with Windows7 and all programmes worked immediately. It's user friendly imo - I haven't had any problems finding my way around and rather like any changes they have made. So, I would say go ahead with the upgrade.

I updated two of my pc's. Took an hour and was painless. Only issue I have come across is separating sounds when a headset is plugged in. I had sounds separated in 8.1 with skype/chat programs going through the headset and computer sounds through the speakers. Other than that I'm pleased.

Easy peasy process...also about an hour start to finish here. Haven't really seen much difference except that it opens up to my desktop now instead of the tile screen.

I'm on the wait list as well, but am happy to hear it's not going to be as painful as I thought it might be.

I set mine up to update overnight. When I woke up, it was done. I like it so far.

My tablet could not update because of the graphics driver. Waiting on my laptop and just remembered that I need to get on the list for a desktop that I don't use very often!

So far so good. I have a brand new laptop so it took me awhile. I was several updates behind. After that was done, it was easy peasy. So far I like it. My biggest complaint with 8 was trying to import photos. I haven't tried it with 10 yet, so I'm crossing my fingers that it works.

Mine took 2 days and many failure attempts. It seems this is rare though and was due to my computer shutting down during the download/update. So I guess just avoid that...lol. Otherwise I like it.

I'm on the wait list to upgrade. Why is there a wait list? I saw prompt, "Download Tool", on Windows site but didn't click on it, yet. Will it let me sign up there? Forgive my ignorance, please! I don't want to mess up this wonderful Windows 8.1- ugh...

I think there is a wait list to keep Microsoft's servers from being inundated. The update went out to inside testers first then to others. You should be able to click on the icon in your task bar tray and reserve your copy anytime. I think it will be available for a year for free.

I dropped mine off at the Microsoft store at the mall a few days ago. I have a virus, so they are trying to remove i. I think I will like Windows 10. Everybody I know that has it likes it so far.

I have it scheduled to update on Tuesday morning. I will be backing up all of my documents but I don't have copies of the programs that came preinstalled on this computer. I'm hoping it doesn't wipe them like installing a new OS usually would.

I decided to update my laptop first...and it's in the process right now. I don't really use my laptop so I hardly have anything stored on there, so if it goes wrong or I don't like it, it won't be a problem.
After the install I'll have a play with it on the laptop and see how I like it, then I'll decide if I'll do my desktop now or wait. My desktop is what I use 99% of the time and has all my important stuff on it, so will have to do a more recent backup (although it is pretty well backed up now).
Good to read that people are liking 10. I didn't like the look of Windows 8 at all, so have been avoiding it.

So why did Windows jump from 8 to 10? Because seven eight nine. Sorry. Stole it from Jimmy Fallon. Good question though.

I hated 8 with a passion of a thousand fire ants. I hated it so much every single day. I upgraded yesterday morning and use my computer a lot. I am really loving it!!

I've been using 10 for months now. (DBF is an IT guy who needs to know it inside and out before he puts his company on it.) I got put on the waitlist to update my desktop which I didn't want 10 on and he installed it for me. Easy and no probs.

Ah, I almost forgot about my laptop (I use it so rarely) - that's a great idea and I'm going to do the same. I have also avoided 8...

I just have to say I'm a bit peeved that so many of you have done your upgrade already. I put in a reservation weeks ago and haven't gotten notification that my download is ready yet. I want to do it NOW!

I want to do it NOW! Just google and you'll find info on how to do it now. I've never even made a reservation, googled "windows 10 update", found a site that said "don't want to wait" and clicked on the links they provided. Did my laptop like this today.
