Hi peas, I enjoy the weekly reading threads but if you had to really narrow down your favorites... give me the best one or two. I need to find a couple really good vacation reads.

So this isn't light summer reading, but it is very interesting - Finding Jake. Very interesting and heartbreaking read. But seriously, if you are looking for fluff, this is not it.

The Nightengale by Kristen Hannah. It's not light and fluffy, but it's a pretty easy read and seriously the best book I've read this year.

Two beach reads I enjoyed this summer were "Beach Town" by Mary Kay Andrews and "The Rumor," Elin Hilderbrand's latest.

I am surprised at how many of the books that were mentioned above I have actually read!
I am currently reading Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult.

I loved Finding Jake and The Nightingale but I always lean toward Linwood Barclay. His books grab me by the throat and don't let go.

I am currently reading Leaving Time by Jodi Picoult. And what do you think of it? I have read all of Jodi Picoult's books but this is not one of my favorites. I am a huge Jodi Picoult fan and have read all of her books. I received this one months ago as a gift and read the first couple pages and just couldn't get into it. I just started reading it a few days ago. It is not my favorite of hers by far but I am invested in the story now and can't wait to find out what happened to her mother. I am a little over half through it at this point.
I didn't like The Tenth Circle at all. I really enjoyed The Story Teller. It didn't get great reviews here, but the story has really stuck with me.

I thought The Girl on the Train & Finding Jakewere equally good summer reads.
It does seem like peas either loved or hated The Girl on the Train, while just about all the reviews on Two Peas of Finding Jake have been positive.

The Nightengale by Kristen Hannah. It's not light and fluffy, but it's a pretty easy read and seriously the best book I've read this year. ^^ This was just highly recommended to me! All the light we cannot see. I just cried through the ending. Mostly because it was ending!

I could have written this! I hated The Tenth Circle. I thought The Story Teller was amazing. My Sister's Keeper has always been my favorite though, probably because it was my first. Now that I actually write that, My Sister's Keeper pales in comparison to The Story Teller... I guess I let nostalgia almost win out.

My best read so far this summer was the Wright Brothers. Obviously, not fiction, but such a well written book. McCullough is such a wonderful story teller, and the personalities of the brothers and family members was so interesting. I learned a lot, and was thoroughly entertained.
not to be snarky, but I absolutely could not stand the Glass Castle.

not to be snarky, but I absolutely could not stand the Glass Castle.I hated the parents in this book and I felt myself being super pissed off while I read this book. So I totally get where you are coming from.

I don't want to spoil it for you, but I'm a big Picoult fan and that book was hugely disappointing to me. I think I finished it and said, "REALLY?! Seriously!?" and swore I'd never read another Picoult book again. Which I will, of course, but it will take time for me to forgive her for that rubbish.

I'm catching up on books that have been out for a while... so I read the Divergent series and now I'm in the middle of the Maze Runner series. The Divergent series was excellent and I'm really liking the Maze Runner series as well.
I also read Girl On a Train, it was intriguing but I can't say I really liked it. When I realized 'who done it' I was a little disappointed, seems so predictable.

The Martian! It is hands down the best book I've read this year. And probably makes it into my Top 5. I was really sad when it was over. It was fantastic!

So this isn't light summer reading, but it is very interesting - Finding Jake. Very interesting and heartbreaking read. But seriously, if you are looking for fluff, this is not it. I really liked this book. I couldn't put it down once I started. I would have cooked and cleaned the kitchen while reading if I could have. It took me 4 days to read. Very well written book. It was Interesting and heartbreaking but it was also funny and heartwarming as well.
