It's not my style personally. But, if I'd been the recipient, that wouldn't have stopped me from using it and giving it pride of place. I have several such quilts from various generations but, to me, it's not the pattern that matters. It's the thought and care you put into it, researching it, patiently piecing it together. Every time they see it or use it, it'll be like they are getting a big hug from you! Who wouldn't want a gift and a friend like that?

In a world where the toaster you get as a wedding present lasts a few years, instead of the decades they used to last, something like this is wonderful... I think they'll feel even more grateful to have it ten, twenty, thirty years from now... Things of love that last are special... It's a beautiful quilt...

That is absolutely beautiful! If I received that 23 years ago as a wedding gift, I can guarantee I would still have it, use it, and it would be a treasured keepsake with my family. I'm also very envious of your talent!!

I don't remember if I voted or not. It's hard to know if someone will enjoy s quilt or not. I have seen many I love snd some I dont. I love this one especially the grooms side and love that it's reversible.

I don't recall a quilt debate but I would have loved to receive this as a wedding gift. I did receive a few crocheted afghans and they are still a treasure today, 24 years later. Both people that have made our afghans have passed and I love to think of them each time someone in our family uses them.

I've done some stuff with more than 50% pea disapproval. Good on you! It is beautiful. (I remember that thread , but I don't think I posted because I didn't know what to say. I love to receive handmade gifts, but I know some people don't appreciate them. I admire you for investing that kind of time and money on a wedding gift.

I'm sure it took you a great deal of time and effort to make that. However, had you made it for me, it would be a waste of your time and talent. I do not like quilts, their style does not comport with mine and most likely it would quickly find it's way to Goodwill. I think that's a risk you run when you make something like this as a gift for someone you don't know.
