Yeah I just got the DD email @abr79 Just laughed when I saw the albums being delayed - had to be something, right? Not sure about a stamp being included in the main kit. i assumed there was, but maybe they've gone a different route this year. Also charging internationals separate shipping on each mini kit, the main kit and album. Umm, no thanks. Think I'll give everything a miss this year. I need to save some $$ anyway as I've just been talking about going to visit my brother and his family in Europe next summer.

So does this mean if we order the main kit we have to order an album separately if we want one? Or that we will have album options to choose from, but an album is included in the price?

My understanding from Ali's response is that everything is going to be separate this year: kits, stamps, albums. But she said that it's all reflected in the price (so the price of the main kit should be less considering there is no stamp or album).

ok, that's what I was thinking but then I second-guessed myself and couldn't figure it out! I guess we'll see all the details on Thursday!

Well, at least you got the email, @abr79. I haven't received marketing emails for most of this year. My most recent convo with SC is almost a month old with no resolution. So I tagged Ali on my comment on the thread, hoping to spur some action.
If the kit items are sold separately, I'll be a happy camper. Maybe I can justify the kit and stamp set that way.

Sounds as if the main kit may be smaller and less expensive this year. Can't wait to see what is included in the Ali's kit. Seems like there will be more options to pick and choose what you want. I wonder if the albums being delayed will affect how many people order albums? Looking forward to Thursday and getting a look at everything.

It seems like even with a delayed album, everything is much more organized this year, and they're getting started a lot earlier. Hopefully there won't be any major issues!

Individual pieces are great, but the stacking of shipping could seriously add up. Their model reminds of why I cancelled my SB sub. Paying $6 handling for two shrinking kits ticked me off. If you buy an album, Ali's main, and a mini as an international customer you'd be spending $11 or $18 shipping. That's more than last year's. Plus I'm doubtful about the individual prices. Breaking the main down and offering more is not financially to our benefit.

My guess is the shipping Would end up comparable to the cost of an additional mini kit.

I really need to pull out my DD box and see what I have left and what I would actually use. I'm sure I could do without buying anything this year but I want to see Ali's kit before making any crazy statements. i just recently sold almost all of my christmas stash (except for papers which will go to my son's school) so i am ready for a fresh start. my entire christmas stash of embellishments now fits in a little 2x6 pencil box that is not even close to being full. yay!

Oh, I thought I'd add in how I do my DD. I do 25 days and I number each page because I like fonts, numbers, typography. I use a different style for each number with no repeats. But my DD is not really daily. Some days we do 2-3 holiday things and somedays nothing. So I start putting up the tree on Thanksgiving or the day after and start taking pictures then. Each day/spread in the journal is one theme: we do pictures with Santa, wrapping presents, ornaments, special parties, a couple for elf on the shelf. They are semi chronological but I don't remember by Jan. when I did what so it being perfectly in order doesn't matter to me. this is how i do my book as well…my first few i did daily but now i just document our christmas and this year, i already have one story to tell that happened this past week. i have made notes about it and will include it on the first page of my book. i had to have the 'santa' talk with my boy and i read him a copy of the 'yes virginia there is a santa claus' letter. sigh. he has been thinking a lot about it because we have had lots of talks already! too good not to include even if it is a story from august and not from december!

I included the "Yes, Virginia" letter in my first DD and I think I referenced something else along the lines in last years. Yes, Virginia makes me sob every time I read it. Heck, every time I think about it. I'm sorry you had to have the talk. I'm a little nervous about it with mine (each year I worry) but since I, personally, still believe in Santa, I think it will go OK. I hope it will go ok.

The detailed contents of the kit are up, and include an album, and a (really nice IMO!) stamp set. It is still $99...but...if I needed any Christmas stuff!!!...I think it looks worth the money. Cool assortment of things that would make creating the album a snap.

Breaking the main down and offering more is not financially to our benefit. Especially for you internationals. It's not so bad for domestics - especially if we reach $99 (which I'm guessing a kit, a stamp and an album would be right around that mark). But, this is not the first time I've felt the impression that SC wants to discourage international shipping. They'll do it - IF you pay for it. And pay up the booty. I know April got a lot of flack for saying so on the boards back in June but I think it was the most honest thing she's ever said on the boards (especially in the last few months) - they probably are losing money on international purchases and it probably makes a little not worth it. Harsh (and she definitely shouldn't have said it how she did) but true.

This will be my 9th year doing DD. I look forward to doing it all year long. I'm in Canada and the exchange rate is horrendous right now. But… the years I have put together my own kit… I know that I am spending a lot more than I think, by the time I cobble together the album and some embellishments and a few digital kits and and and… I think the year I bought Ali's kit straight up was probably my most thrifty year!
I have lots of stash and so am wondering if I can get by this year just on a mini kit. We shall see.
I am also intrigued to hear Ali say that there will be not only multiple albums to choose from, but also multiple sizes. I've done the 6x8 size three years now and it works well for me - I do a lot of photos and a lot of memorabilia, and it lets me fit it all in. I always think I should mix it up, but it just works for me!
Looking forward to the full reveal on Thursday.

According to a post over on the SC message boards, the DD preorder went live by mistake for a period of time overnight (for us in the states). Did anyone here see it before it got taken down?! Curious about album choices and price point on things...

I didn't see it myself, but the prices I've heard on Facebook are $49.99 for the main, $19.99 for the album, $19.99 for the mini kits and $14.99 for the stamps.

I'm guessing the main is smaller than last years, then. Mini kits seem a bit pricey, maybe it'd be more product than I thought.

I hope that is right for the albums... Would be a pretty good deal since Ali said they include protectors and she is doing 6x8.... So if it is a handbook option that would be a lot more affordable than buying one from SC.

I kind of like the idea of separate items. In the last couple of years I've wanted the stamp set but could justify the price for the whole kit when I have a very healthy Christmas stash. Maybe this year I can grab bits and pieces.

That seems reasonable. I don't stamp so I'm always annoyed I have to find ways to sell them. It wasn't so hard on 2peas but this FSOT board here is dead. Beat it with a stick.
I'll be busy at 11 so I'll have to wait to check it all out.
