A friend is coming over later with 2-1/2 dozen ears of corn from the local farm stand. We're going to cut it off the cob, cook it briefly in a butter sauce and then cool and freeze it. We're going to make 2 batches and split it I'm going to throw a roast in the oven before she gets here and then her DH will join us for dinner when we're done with the corn. We'll be having roast pork, roasted carrots, mashed potatoes & gravy and corn on the cob of course They aren't big dessert eaters and it's a good thing because I have nothing for dessert What are you cooking today?

Can I come to your house? your plans and dinner sound lovely. We are going a crazy craving dinner. Its a dinner when we splurge and have something we normally would not have. We are having sausage and cheesy fries. YUM!

After a few days of less than healthy eating we are jumping back on the wagon and having Quinoa Greek Salad ... I made it last week and both dh and I loved it so I'm making it again The dd's are fending for themselves since they won't even try it

Stuffed Peppers (red and yellow, NEVER green!). I love this recipe - they are topped with Monterey Jack cheese. DS isn't a fan, so while he is on vacation, DH and I are having them twice (today, and then leftover on Thursday)

akathy I'd like to come over too! Your dinner sounds wonderful. Tonight I'm making honey baked chicken wrapped in bacon and topped with mozzerella cheese . Rice and brocolli are the sides.

Well I still haven't made it to the grocery store yet. I decided to go watch our local team play in the Little League Canadian Championships instead of shopping. Luckily when I dropped ds's friend off after hockey camp last night his dad gave me a batch of homemade tomato sauce with meatballs, just because.
So long story short dinner tonight is spaghetti and meatballs and garlic toast.

We are having spaghetti, roasted green beans, fresh fruit, "lettuce in a bowl" (commonly referred to as "salad" in other homes), rolls, and not sure what for dessert.

Shredded BBQ chicken with bread & butter pickles, oven fries, and baked beans. Mmm mmm!
I make my own BBQ sauce too.

I'm making Italian sausage sandwiches and homemade fries. Then we'll have fruit salad for dessert, maybe topped with a little whipped cream.

King Arthur's GF baking mix is great for waffles just as an FYI. My daughter has Celiac disease so we are totally gf. You can use the mix for pancakes, biscuits, chicken and dumplings, peach cobbler, coffee cakes, etc. The muffin mix is also really good.

We went to a local diner for breakfast and I ate too much. So I'm thinking of skipping lunch/dinner and have a little or a lot of vodka with my lemon/lime soda. It's too hot to cook or even turn on the oven. Heat index of 105 now.

Yum! Corn on the cob. I just ate an ear as a snack. I recently found out one could eat it raw. Who knew? I surely didn't. Now I can't be bothered cooking it. LOL. Anyway, we're having Penne a la Vodka with shrimp and a salad.

As an aside, I wish it hot enough here to think it is too hot to cook. We have only had one week of real summer weather this year. Last year I think we had about 2 days, and the same for the summer before that. I miss our hot, humid summers, especially since we have had to endure 2 very bad winters back to back - one with record breaking snow and one with record breaking cold.

My friend told me that's how they test it to see if it's ready to pick. They eat it raw He brought me some fresh picked at the perfect stage and I ate a whole big cob raw. It was so sweet and good

It's DH's birthday so I'm making one of his favorites - Italian sausage lasagna with garlic breadsticks and salad. I made a Devils food cake last night and we will have it with ice cream for dessert. Yum! Yum!
