Honestly, that much breakage is not normal. time for a cleaner. The reason to hire a cleaner is to save time, effort, stresses. How is this person doing that for your mother? And there is now way in hell I'd be going to the trouble of and spending the time hiding my good stuff to prevent breakage from the hired help. She has chronic back pain, so there's the spared physical pain of having someone take care of these chores. And when she told me about things being broken, she was laughing. This cleaning lady also has a very loud voice. Mom has complained more seriously and frequently about that than the broken items. I think this lady used to do mom's hair? she has known her socially for years. Mom has had a difficult time finding cleaning people. She lives out in the country, so there's an hour drive time round trip from the nearest town, maybe that's why? Someone mentioned bonded and insured-- she's only hired just people doing this on their own with no insurance. I guess she could check into a 'company' for those protections.

I'm in a similar spot, minus the broken things. The cleaning companies will barely go to the small towns that are my closest towns. No way will they come where I live. There is no chance of finding someone bonded and insured but thankfully I found a lady with a business who does a decent job. She also cleans the firehouse, the church, the post office and the bank at night. Hopefully if anything is getting broken it's there instead of here

I would have a chat with her if she did a super amazing job cleaning. Otherwise, I would find a replacement. That's a lot of damage cleaning...in my life I don't think I broke that many things while cleaning. Other times because I can be a klutz, sure, but not while I'm cleaning the house like that.
