Thanks for the thoughts everyone. His surgery was rescheduled to this Monday, 8/24 and since then we have a lot more information including the knowledge that this is a common location and type of (non-malignant) tumor. He is super healthy and is expected to make pretty much a full recovery. The hope is he will gain most or all of his sight back in his left eye.
