Who's been watching the new season? What do you think so far?
I loved Ashley's (purple hair girl) outfit from the first show and thought she deserved to win. I was surprised that they even let Duncan (red hair NZ guy) on the show, he hardly had any experience and he's never done woman's wear, what were they thinking? It seemed inevitable that we would struggle and be an early boot. I actually thought it was cruel to let him on so early when he had no experience, then basically pick him to bits and kick him off. Bet that hasn't done much for his self confidence.
I thought David was going to do well long term, but everyone kept telling him that he used too much muslin and not enough cards but he just didn't listen. Surely he could see what everyone else was doing? I felt a bit like he sabotaged himself deliberately, and I think Tim did too when he said it was a "self fulfilling prophecy"
I was really surprised that the chubby/bald guy who made the big pink shirt wasn't in the bottom, that was just plain ugly. I didn't think the other girl in the bottom was the worst.
I don't like Blake at all, his 'shtick' of saying horrible things about others and then adding "but I'm so cute/great/adorable" is already old, and then being a bitch about Swapnil's accent. He needs to go already.

I don't like Blake either. He gets under my skin. I have no idea why they chose the girl for the bottom. Her's was not the worst thing that walked down that runway. I think the judges already have their favorites.
And what's up with 3 designers not bringing their toolkit. How do you think the producers will handle that? Will they get to send for them? Use their Mood money to buy the basics?

I've only seen the first episode, but I'm still wondering about the chick who called the muslin, the Muslim. Even Tim had a WTF look on his face.

I think they just had to borrow that stuff from everyone else, I know one guy said he just totally misunderstood the intructions, he thought it said not to bring those items.

OMG I loved Tim in the first episode, he was really telling it like it is! Although he didn't seem to think the losing dress was as bad as all the judges did.

Trust me, this happens every. Single. Day. It drives me bananas, but I can't really correct the customers, so what you going to do? *shrug*

I'm not liking Blake at all. Rather childish with his "but I'm too cute" thing.
I didn't watch all of the second episode yet so I'm kinda fuzzy on names. Give me a couple more episodes and I'll get a better opinion on who's who and who I like.

( well at least I think so ) Muslin is not any surprising new fabric, you can't get much more basic than that.

Tim really steered Duncan wrong. I felt badly that Tim gave him all kinds of praise, so he didn't edit at all and he lost because of it. But I also feel he shouldn't have been there, fresh out of school and no women's wear experience. Loved Ashley's separates in the first episode, hated her second episode one. Felt bad for David, but he had to go home.
And Blake is a tool. Perhaps he's figured out the controversial people get kept on longer so he's going for it whole hog.

Did any of you feel like the other designers 'set up' David? I know it is a competition but while they were praising his dress, even I was saying you are not doing the challenge.
The dress that won was gorgeous, but the skirt was not made of cards or envelopes. Yes, he (can't think of the name) used paper...but to me that did not fit the challenge.
The gal who left, that skirt WAS hideous.

Not at all, they repeatedly told him that there was too much material. I thought they were trying to put it to him politely "it's good BUT I'm worried the judges will say there is too much material" One girl said it to him several times, but he just didn't listen. Plus all he had to do was look around the room and see that no-one else was doing what he did.

1st episode, I thought Tim should have stood up for Duncan. I was really disappointed in Tim for not saying he told him to go with that design. I though Joseph, Jake and Lindsey should have been bottom with Lindsey going. None of those were spectacular "designs"
2nd episode, I don't understand how David left but Blake was praised. His was painted muslin dress with card around the midriff and some sequin fabric from the card lining the skirt (don't sit down!) To me it looked like the both used about the same amount of cards and muslin. Shame David didn't defend his by pointing that out. I thought the judges were more than a bit biased.
And to use a phrase, how did the Manatee dick dress escape the bottom? Lindsey's dress was walking wallpaper.
Edmond's look is divine and Hallmark should buy it/display it
I think Ashley should do well.

Edmond definitely has his head in the game, it was very clever of him to use cut outs that said Hallmark and have it visible. It was a Hallmark challenge and there is no better way to keep the sponsor happy. He's thinking smart.
David didn't actually use any of the paper part of cards or envelopes though, he just took the letters off and used those, no part of the cards were a part of the structure of his jacket/dress at all. Blake at least used some of the cards as a part of his dress. We didn't get a close look at Ashley's dress but I think she used too much fabric too, she was lucky she had immunity.

"The gal who left, that skirt WAS hideous."
Are you talking in the card challenge? because she didn't leave. DAVID left with the grey dress with the cut out card words on it. Her top saved her.
I REALLY like Ashley. I missed parts of the 2nd episode, but heard her 2nd episode look was bad? and she would have gone up if she didn't have immunity? LOVED the wedding dress out of cards. Very well done, and yes, hallmark should buy it from him and display it. Or maybe they just get it? because they sponsored the challenge?
I agree with who said that Tim steered the 1st guy who was booted in the wrong direction!! he kept saying how great it was!! I mean. WTH?!

Maybe it's because I don't like Blake, but I would argue his dress didn't have any card parts as structure either. I didn't get why the judges thought it was so fantastic. I swear I wore a similar style dress to a formal in college. This is supposed to be design. So far I don't really like anything Hanmiao has made but I get it (sort of surprised her muumuu and duster didn't get booted in the first challenge), she might be the next Vivienne Westwood or she might just be crazy or both. I use this link to look at names and looks to help me remember. www.mylifetime.com/shows/project-runway

Here are all the dresses, the yellow cape thing in the top row is Ashley's, oh and I completely forgot about the red & pink vagina dress! That pink skirt if horrible, that should have been in the bottom.
No, I didn't like it either and never thought it would be in the top, I just think it met more of the brief than David's did. I looked kind of cheap and tacky prom dress to me. I was definitely surprised it was in the top 4.

I love Edmond, and was so happy he won (which he deserved, IMO). Didn't think David deserved to go home--I was really hoping he'd stick around.

I didn't like the boxy pink skirt but felt it met the challenge.
Kinda scary to think that if David had just continued and put more card on the muslin he would still be in, but I think he wanted to go. Honestly, we have seen them fight for designers that went outside the box. But if David was feeling the stress on the second challenge he needed to go and it definitely wasn't the worst on the runway it was just too outside the box for the challenge.

I think they have sent the wrong people home both episodes.
Heidi was on "Kelly & Michael" last week and said that Tim Gunn dropped more f-bombs this season than all the other seasons combined and that he got VERY frustrated with the designers this season.

I think Duncan went home because Sean won last season. I don't think Duncan was a Sean yet but honestly, his toga/biased dress wasn't that awful.
Lindsey seems to think old school librarian is the new it girl. If you are going to use small florals you have to make it new again. So far bleugh.

At 1 point could Tim at least have said, I thought he was doing great and I encouraged him to go for it??? It really bugged me that he didn't say anything, not even a "he had a great start and I am told him he was heading in teh right direction" It wouldn't have changed the outcome but I think Tim should have said something. I liked Duncan, he seemed sweet...but it's not about sweet, I know. Blake

I think they have sent the wrong people home both episodes. I think the 2nd guy was right to go becuase he didn't use the proper materials - even though everyone seemed to remind him he needed to.

I have a question - the judges said Ashely didn't follow the rules but she was safe due to immunity. Didn't she use those gold card things to structure her dress- paint them? It was hard to tell, but it looked very stiff so I assumed she did use them. Was it all muslin too? I hated the dress but I thought she had used the cards until Heidi said she broke the rules - but they didn't elaborate.

Ugly but she used skill and used the materials and it at least looked like a skirt. Some of the safe ones looked all slapped togther - literally just pieces of paper hodge podged, and like she said, some looked like trash- and she was in the bottom?

Blake is so annoying. For that reason alone, he'll probably stick around for a while. He seems like he's trying too hard to be a certain type of personality.
I think the skirt on the wedding dress was made from either large gift bags or wrapping paper, both of which were available during the spree.
I wish Tom & Lorenzo were still doing written commentary but they've switched to a podcast instead. I'll listen but I prefer to just read about it.

I wondered what Edmond used on the bottom and I'm sure you're right. I never thought of wrapping paper or gift bags! Brilliant! And yeah, it's a good thing Ashley had immunity, that design looked like a sandwich billboard. I loved Swapnil's look too. His skirt reminded me of scrapbook paper. Blake makes for good tv, that's about it. I wish they would cut all the fluff and critique ALL the looks. The vajayjay dress was hideous and Merline's was just butt ugly. And I miss Tom and Lorenzo's site as well!!!

Oh and in looking at the pictures again, the little black sparkly dress was adorable, did not look like it was made from cards nor did the little gold dress, both were well constructed and looked like you could wear it out in public. Both designers should have gotten kudos.
