I remember when we moved from Ohio to Idaho. I was 2 1/2. My mom and I flew on an airplane. I remember standing by the luggage carousel and our cat coming down the ramp in her cat carrier. She had her face mushed up against the mesh and looked terrified.

I was 2. We were living in the townhouse and I wanted to go outside and play in the snow. That was May 1980 and that snow was actually the ash from Mt. Saint Helens. My birthday was just a few days prior. I was not happy I was not allowed to go outside!

I have a couple from when I was three and they both involve the hospital. The first one is that I had surgery on my left eye and I can remember my Grandmother visiting me in the hospital. I also remember giving the nurses a really hard time when they had to change the gauze over my eye (they actually had to restrain me because I wouldn't let them touch it.)
The other memory is of being in the hospital because I stuck a Lego up my nose and had to have it removed. Apparently, I stuck it up there pretty far. My dad had bought a stuffed bunny from the hospital gift shop and I remember him giving it to me at the hospital. I still have that bunny.

I'm not sure which is first or what my age was-probably age 3.
One of my first memories is my mother riding me to preschool on her bicycle with me in the front (this was in Germany) on the child's seat. I was always hoping she'd stop on the way for Gummi bears which was (and still is) my very favorite candy, but she never did. We were watching our pennies back then and I'm sure she would have if she could. But I didn't know that.
Another is of my bedroom in our apartment in Germany that I shared with my baby sister. I had a tiny toddler bed and she had a crib on the opposite side of the room. She and I were enemies from the start-we were 18 months apart and compete opposites. When J finished her bottle she'd launch it like a missile across the room where it'd land with a thud on the wall above my head. Every single night.

I remember playing on my grandmother's side porch with my cousin when I was about 3. They turned it into a room shortly after that. the next think I remember clearly other than vague memories of playing outside was when I broke my arm when I was four reaching for the mail from on top of my tricyle and it few out from under me.

I was just shy of two years old. We lived in Fla. We lived in a house with a white picket fence and a pear tree in the front yard. Mom was in the house and my older sister and I were in the front yard. It was summer. Hot and humid. I was sitting on the ground in just a diaper. I began screaming at top of my lungs because I was literally covered with ants. My Mom hosed me down to get them off me. I was bitten all over. Yes. A memorable event in my sweet young life!!

Ugh other then one PP I think I am the only one whose first memory is when I was older. Sadly I think I was in grade 1 remember my first day of grade one and getting my name tag. I also remember walking home in the rain in grade one and it started hailing. I would have been 6 yrs old. I don't remember a lot of stuff from my early childhood and sometimes the things I think I remember are really just the few photos I have of my childhood and me making up stuff if you kwim. I have asked my one sister what she remembers when she was little and she says not much either, I think it was because we had a crappy childhood. My hubby thinks it is weird because he has lots of great memories of his childhood and lots early on. I sometimes wonder why I have suppressed so many of mine, I don't think I want to know

A group of us were playing in the bedroom while our parents were in the living room, we lived in married student housing at my dad's college and the apartments all had bunk beds in one bedroom. We were climbing up the dresser to the top of the bunk bed, and jumping down - when the dresser fell on one of my friends. We were 2

The earliest. memory I have, that I'm sure is a memory and not a dream, is from my second birthday. I got this toy truck (I was a bit of a tomboy), and I remember playing with it outside. It's just a glimps

Two weeks before I turned two,my little brother was born. I remember my great aunt and I waking down the street to the hospital to visit him and my parents. Driving along that street recently I'm amazed by how long it is. I felt it was much shorter. I also remember sitting next to mum on the hospital bed, playing with the bag I had with me. I don't remember seeing my brother that day.
He had a pretty major impact on my young life. Mum tells me she had him in the cot (crib) in the lounge room with a mosquito net over him (winter baby) so that anything I threw at him didn't hit him. I must have been a delightful toddler!

I remember at three years old asking my uncle to tie my shoe when I was three. He declined, but taught me to do it instead.
Most of my early memories are pretty awful, so I prefer not to think about them.

I was 18 months old in the back seat of my aunts car with my cousin who was 14 months older than me. I was apparently a talker, a big talker. My cousin looked over at me and told me to be quiet because she had a headache. I responded for her to "take a powder". This was mid 70s because I vividly remember the baby blue color of the interior of that car along with the ashtray in the back of the front seats. We pinched our fingers on those stupid things a lot.

We lived in our first house from the time I was born until I was 2 1/2. I have a ton of memories from the first house.
There are two that tie for earliest. Not sure which was earlier. I know I was under a year old for both. In one memory, I"m sitting on my sister's bed looking around the room, at the bedspread, at the closet doors, at my crib, etc.
In the other, my Dad and sister were building a little addition onto the room. A little study space for my sister who was in college at the time. I was probably 9 months old and sitting in the little alcove they were building. I remember the bare wood floor and walls. I remember my sister sitting with me and letting me hold the nails. I remember how they felt and the coldness in the un-insulated space.

We moved out of our first house when I was 3 1/2, so my earliest memories would be from that house. Do you remember when you had to buy pop in the 16 ounce bottles that you had to return to the grocery store for a deposit? I remember studying those empty bottles one day while my mom was on the phone, and I realized that the abbreviation "oz" for "ounce" was the same as OZ in the Wizard of Oz, and running to tell my mom what I discovered. She told me to be quiet because she was on the phone. I remember playing with Weebles on the couch on the basement while my mom ironed and watched her soap opera (Another World). My older sister must have been at school. I remember my BFF Annie lived behind us, and talking to her through the fence that separated our two yards. I remember one night my sister and I built a massive maze of blocks in the living room that we were driving our toy cars through, and being so upset when the next morning all the blocks were gone- mom had cleaned them up when we went to bed. I can tell you the layout of that house from top to bottom and where we had the furniture placed, even though I don't really have any more memories. I love hearing these stories!

The one I remember with most detail was when I was 5 years old. Every blue moon, my parents would drop my sister and I off at a place called "Kids Time-Out". They would go to dinner/movie/dancing for a few hours and we'd be entertained by other kids and adults. One time they dropped us off and my sister immediately ran to her little friends and I kinda just sat in the corner. I saw one of the sitters holding a baby and I cautiously walked up to her and just watched the baby for a minute. I asked if I could hold the baby. She had me sit on a bench and positioned the baby in my arms. In that exact moment, I wanted to be a mother! In my 5 year old mind, I said "I need one of these!!" I can still remember how it felt and how she smelled!

Flooding the bathroom by overflowing the basin. I guess it didn't have an overflow drain opening up under the spigot. I can remember standing there staring at the water flowing over the top and not knowing what to do to stop it. You know, easy stuff like maybe turn off the taps or pulling the plug?
