Have you tried coloring? I've been doing it for several months now and it is soooo relaxing. Grand babies were here for vacation and when they weren't swimming, that's all they wanted to do!

Thanks for all the great ideas. I remembered my daughter had done a punch embroidery thing (no clue of real name) so I may see what craft store has in stock. The one she had gotten was on the small side so would be easy enough to work on anywhere. Love the christmas card idea if I can get my act together in time to gather up what I need. A small counted cross stitch I haven't done in years but would I finish it once home?! For the coloring I'm sure it has been mentioned before, but what type of pencils work the best? I guess I could not be lazy and do a search So for those who mentioned the dish scrubby things, what type of yarn do you use for them? My oldest sister buys them at fairs all the time so that would be a nice surprise for her. Karen

How about a lego architecture series model or other set you could build together? Very relaxing and when you are done take it apart and toss the pieces in a ziplock bag for transport. Or you could even make your own design out of the bricks.

Karen All the box stores have a line of inexpensive cotton worsted weight yarn for that very thing. Sugar & Cream is very common, and I've also used another brand ... Lion Brand, maybe?? It's been years but I'm sure it's all still available.

I like Staedler and Prismacolor. But you can use Crayola and get good results. Don't forget a sharpener!

We did a large family vacation to a golf resort with the in-laws last year and my MIL brought a shoebox full of duct tape and a book on things to make with it. We all had a lot of fun an it was something we wouldn't do at home
